FFVII Limit Gauge Fury

Fury is a status in Final Fantasy VII that reduces the character's hit rate for both physical and magical attacks by 30%, but also doubles the rate at which the Limit gauge fills; it can be a positive or negative effect depending on the situation. When a character is under Fury status, their Limit bar is displayed in red, rather than the normal pink. Sadness and Fury both persist after battle and cab be healed/inflicted in the menu with Tranquilizer/Hyper.

Its opposing status effect, Sadness, mitigates physical damage taken, but also decreases the rate at which the Limit gauge fills. The effect of Fury is nullified by the item Tranquilizer, and can be created with Hyper, or through an enemy attack. Both Tranquilizers and Hypers can be bought in shops.

Fury affects Hit% in the following formula:

Fury can affect enemies, but this is difficult since Hypers cannot normally be given to them, and there are no attacks in the player's possession that can inflict the status. If a character chooses to use a Hyper, but is then immediately confused, they will use the Hyper on the enemy party. If enemies are afflicted by Fury their Hit% is negatively affected, making the Fury status the only way to do this as the Darkness status is broken in that it does not actually hamper enemies' hit chance, only the player's party's.

Use[]

Fury makes Limit gauge fill faster but missable attacks miss more often. The player can focus on using abilities that cannot miss. Fury can be of use when grinding for new Limit Breaks; also giving the character Cover and possibly HP↔MP makes them take hits more often and filling the Limit Gauge fast.
