The Full Metal Staff is a weapon for Aeris in Final Fantasy VII. It can be purchased at Kalm, and has stats on-par with other weapons available there. It is the first weapon available for Aeris after leaving Midgar, but can be outclassed if the Striking Staff was obtained earlier. The weapon has three Materia slots, two of which are linked. Full Metal Staff can be thrown.
Obtained[]
The Full Metal Staff can be purchased at Kalm for 800 gil, and later at Junon before the player has the Highwind. However, if the player stole the Striking Staff from Eligor in Midgar, they can forego the weapon entirely.
Mechanics[]
As the Full Metal Staff has a base Attack stat bonus of 16, the base damage for physical attacks when the Full Metal Staff is equipped is in the following formula:
where "Level" is Aeris's current level and "Strength" is her Strength stat. The Full Metal Staff also has an Attack% (Accuracy) of 100%, and grants a +4 bonus to Aeris's Magic stat.
Use[]
The Full Metal Staff provides three Materia slots, two of which are linked, and decent stats. If the player did not steal the Striking Staff from Midgar, Full Metal Staff is Aeris's best weapon after leaving Midgar, and is therefore worth purchasing.
The Full Metal Staff has three Materia slots, one of which is linked. Due to Aeris's high Magic stat, she is a great candidate to give All Materia paired with a Magic Materia. Pairing this with an offensive Magic Materia, such as Fire, Ice, or Lightning, allows her to potentially clear waves of enemies. Pairing it with Restore allows her to heal all allies at once. The latter is normally unnecessary on Aeris in most early fights due to her Limit providing more than enough healing, but as the weapon has three slots, Aeris can equip both Restore and an offensive Magic Materia while linking either to All depending on whether the situation demands defensive or offensive play.
The Full Metal Staff is outclassed by the Striking Staff, or later the Prism Staff.
