Fragments of silt are an element in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. They are the sequestered powers primarily of Spiritus' champions and feature prominently in Act 3 of the storyline.
Story[]
Spritus believed that the world could only be saved by the most powerful warriors. This resulted in him selecting champions who had sought and wielded immense power in their homeworlds, even though such individuals usually used that power for destructive ends. As a precaution, Spiritus took away their ability to take their most powerful forms.
After the crystal core of darkness is swallowed by Shinryu, the summoned warriors fall into a new world fashioned from their own feelings and memories. Sensing the imbalance in favor of Light, Eald'narche decides to tip the scales back towards Darkness before the world is destroyed. He discovers the powers of Spritius' warriors scattered around the world, which he dubs "fragments of silt."
Collecting these fragments, Eald'narche seeks out their owners. Operating through a combination of manipulation and coercion, he restores these individuals' powers to them, frequently with dire consequences. Characters such as Hope and Jecht quickly leave their companions for fear that their powers would escape their control. Others, such as Vayne and Seymour, renew their plans of conquest and destruction.
