Don't know if you guys noticed, but external images no longer appear as the image itself, but as a link to the image. It's not a glitch or some temporary bug, but a Wikia mandated banning. I was given these links in the Wikia Help IRC chat in relation to this matter. Perhaps we might need to change our uploading policy a bit, in order to allow uploading of things like user infobox pics for user pages? Thoughts?
Crazyswordsman - Final Fantasy VI, because Drake says he wants to link to FF7 every day, which is bad because that game is so far inferior to FF6. TALK - 22:44, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. Uploading of any and all images is now legal. And if Hecko whines, then screw him. I'm gonna complain to Wikia. Also, images hosted by Imageshack are going to be whitelisted.

It is a pretty crappy policy. Did they not let you know at all, CSM? I would've thought they would let all of the top admins on each wiki know before just implementing a new Wikia-wide policy... In the chat, they said something about a forum and a newsletter, but I personally never really venture outside this wiki, so that seems like a pretty shitty way of letting people know about policy changes. I guess the User Images category is really gonna start filling up now, huh? :-/

No, they never told us. Apparently they think Wikipedia's copyright policies apply to like every friggin' wiki there is. They're not. We're not a Wiki. We're a fansite that happens to be a wiki. And I'm STILL WAITING FOR EVERYONE'S FANART.
I uploaded a few of my images. I didn't think it would be right to flood the place with it.
Wait this isn't a wiki? I thought the title of this place was Final Fantasy WIKI. Is that little Chocobo in the corner of my screen lying to me?

What I meant to say is that we're more than a wiki.
This fucking sucks! Now my 360 gamer card doesn't show on my userpage! I can't upload it to the Wiki, the image updates every time I log into XBox Live! The site I got it from made it specifically for Wiki use, now that's ruined!

I posted your complaint in a place where Angela can see it.

Wait, can't we just leave Wikia and bring all the stuff here to a new site. I mean it would take a while, but if everyone from here helped isn't it possible?
Now that is a truly ballsy move, DrakeyDrake. You say we should move everysingle bit of text and code to an entirely new website, all five thousand or more pages moved. That would take years of effort, on a massive scale. We'd all probably have to abandon our jobs, schoolwork, and social lives for this move - and we're a group that can't even get its walkthroughs finished. Its fucking crazy. I like fucking crazy. I'm all for it. =)

Not to mention the fact that it would be entirely way too fucking expensive. I have enough stuff to pay for (apartment, bills, the usual) without having to worry about the cost of upkeep on I don't even know how many servers. No thanks.

Drake, you wanna find us a host and pay for it yourself? I'd make you an admin if you did that.

That might not be easy at this point in time, but if I ever have enough money and no dire needs in my personal life I would gladly pay for it. Sadly, I am not rich, nor has that ever been the case, in fact I don't have enough cash for lunch on Monday.
Don't understand what the problem is. What exactly changes here?

The problem is that no matter what wikia decides at this point, we have to listen to them. It proves that the PeopleWithPower here are nothing compared to the "bigshots" over at Wikia.

Diablo, this is the response I got from Splarka, a Wikia staffer: "There are ways around this without adding to the external image whitelist. For example, http://card.mygamercard.net/lastgame/diablocon.png could be added via site-wide javascript, or even via css using a "background-image: url()" definition (if it was just for one person). If however there is a clear community use for this on ffwiki, it would be definitely considered."
Thanks for that CSM. Good to see my plight hasn't been ignored. However, that response is very confusing, mostly because I'm not familiar with the inner workings of a Wiki. The Via CSS method seems to be the best option though (since it is only for one person).
the external images are finally back
Nope they aren't. My Picture Mystery thread is ruined :(
And if Hecko whines, then screw him. Baaah, you're just pissed because you rarely win any of our heated discussions. If you just stopped being wrong so often, that would change ;) Anywho, since the conditions of the site has changed, the rules should accomModate the changes, so as long people just categorize their images, then I have no problem with it.
