I can't help noticing that trolls are allowed to go around unchecked on this site's question portion. Can someone explain to me why we're allowing this? This IS a site for Final Fantasy fans after all and trolling should NOT be allowed!
- The Answers Wikia was not created by us. Wikia forced that upon us. In all honesty, I think nobody has any control over that site (are there even any admins?) and nobody here cares because we've got the Dollet Hotel. First, sign your posts with ~~~~. Secondly; trolls exist on every website on the internet, and is generally accepted as a fact-of-life; getting rid of them in neigh-immposible. Also, can you show me an example of these trolls in the "question portion". I'm asuming you mean the forums? | |||
He means Final Fantasy Answers. This is slapped across one of the sidebars in Oasis and has rubbish like "Is Bartz gay?" and "Can we play as Osama bin Laden in Final Fantasy Versus XIII?" I don't think there's a single good post on there.Template:Catuse167/sig04:50, December 5, 2011 (UTC)
I believe that he means the awful 'Answers' wiki that is linked to from this wiki in Oasis, LaCC. There are indeed no admins on that wiki at the moment. I believe that some users are trying to adopt it to clean it up, but it is ultimately not our problem. We are not directly affiliated with that wiki and do not currently have any control over it. For those who haven't seen what it looks like in Oasis, here is a screenshot. As you can see, it reflects rather poorly on us. From what I have discovered so far, it may be possible to ask Wikia to remove the Answers box from our wiki. This would likely be a good thing, so I will investigate it further. | |||
I believe Nemesisx has been erasing bad pages, but doesn't have deletion powers and is overwhelmed with the junk over there. Getting Wikia to remove it shouldn't be hard; while they refuse to give up Oasis, surely they can see that Answers Wikia is bad PR? I have spoken with sannse at Wikia, and we have several options. We can request that it be removed from the Oasis sidebar, which is probably sensible at least until it has been cleaned up. As far as adoption goes, she said:

Hi there, as most of you must know by now i am trying to request adoption of the Final Fantasy Answers wiki, most of you don't seem to like the site and from the amount of trolls that are attracted to it i don't blame you, now im not to sure with the whole history of the wikia forceing it upon you guys or what not but if you could help support me in adopting it i would very much appreciate it, as ive said before i belive the site holds some potentional and should not be cluttered with childish questions.

I figured I'd voice this here. I am another active member who is helping NemesisX's desire of eliminating trolling on the Answers Wiki. I've been a long time fan of the Final Fantasy wiki, and it's a damn shame the quality of the answers section (Or lack therefore) tarnishes this site. I've been offered a seat of adminship should Nemesisx succeed in his adoption request, and I guess you could argue I was the one who put the idea of cleaning the site up in his head. I've had preexisting Adminship experience, so I couldn't sit back and let this happen. Just letting you know NemesisX is not alone in his desire to clean up the answers wiki, and hopefully I can help him in his idea of making it a beneficial center of both the Final Fantasy wiki, and the Final Fantasy fanbase in general, because as I've seen, the so called "Contributers" aren't doing that themselves. Well, if there's a strong likelihood of it being cleaned up and, thereafter, monitored, then in the long run, I see no reason for it not to stay. It's one of the things in Oasis that I come close to actually liking, insofar as it's a pretty innocuous widget in itself... y'know, when it's not being abused by rampant trolls. However, if the adoption isn't going to be resolved extremely soon, then I'd certainly agree with disabling the widget for the time being. After all, even if the adoption went through right now, the cleanup won't happen instantaneously. Quickly, perhaps, if the rogue questions are all being marked out in advance, but it'll still take some time to deal with them.
So, yeah, I'd support temporarily disabling it. Once it's been cleaned up, we can decide whether we want to bring it back or leave it disabled. | |||

Hey, all. I did some digging and for the time being, I may be able to whip up some code to at least say we don't own it. It would be easy enough to remove it myself, but then Wikia would likely have words concerning policy. Although before doing so, I'd like to speak to Wikia myself concerning this. To do that, I'd like to get a consensus on what our direction is going to be. Bluntly, I don't want it there. We have our own internal area and I see no reason we should be redirecting people to an area we don't control and having it reflect on us. No offense to either of the people hoping to adopt the section, but the fact of the matter is that the object in question is both redundant and best managed internally. I wasn't even aware of it until now because it doesn't seem to show up for me while logged in, and I use Oasis mostly unaltered. That's just my opinion, though. I'd like to get those of others as well, so I'm making a poll at the top of this page. | |||
To clarify my position, I feel that, whilst I wish Nemesisx the very best in adopting the Answers wiki and getting it under control, we should not be prominently affiliated with something that is outside of our control and not directly relevant to main purpose of the wiki. As such, I feel that the Answers box should go. Really, as it is, it is barely any different to prominently featuring the GameFAQs Final Fantasy section; we do not do that, and, indeed we should not have the Answers wiki featured. I have had very mixed feelings about this area. For me, the main con is that it's completely independent from the control of our userbase in general, being a distinct wiki. Unless this is solved, I'd have to agree with getting rid of it entirely because I simply can't find any sense in featuring something on our wiki which we're not even affiliated with.
On the other hand, it's incredibly more useful and easy to use than help forums and can be actually used as a kind of feedback on the very site. If not for the freedom of access, this would be just amazing. - Henryacores^ 01:14, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

- I think you're missing the point. The idea of having an easy setup to ask questions isn't bad. However, the fact that it's an external site is awful. I think if it was internal nobody would take issue with it, but the fact is that it's an external site which offers only a few options: 1) we affiliate and relinquish control of our own question-answering, 2) we effectively split our recently-increased staff between two wikis with your help and approval, or 3) we effectively split our whole community over two wikis. All three options are bluntly balls-ass retarded. The fourth option is to remove the module from our site, allowing each to retain its own community, which is what a landslide so far is in favor of. I think this type of space would be preferred by many people to ask questions rather than the forum. Plus you may be able to quickly see if someone else has already asked the same thing. I don't think we should bury the idea quite so fast. One thing I worry though is that someone's gonna post some spoilers there and then it'll show up for everyone who visits the site. Like post the ending of FFXIII-2 when it's soon out. This is why I think we should remove it for now, not until it is up and running properly and we can "trust" it. | |||

- I, for one, am firmly opposed to killing it (although I accept I probably will be overruled). If you and LockeXCeles get it under control, I see no reason to get rid of it and Kelt said the truth about it. The main issue with the thing is that it was created BY WIKIA and they didn't even have the decency to install any staff in there. At bloody all. Look at this. I checked every named user page and not one of the named users is listed as the founder, or even an admin. Whatever they were smoking, they seem to have figured it would just manage itself. That's just plain thoughtless, as well as careless given they didn't even bother to check whether one of their top ten had forums dedicated to that stuff already. Bluestarultor

This is apparently turning into a thread for discussion of the Answers Wiki, and I'd like to ask two things. First, do you mind if we steal BORROW the feathers in the Oasis sidebar of this wiki, and the talk template? (Actually, never mind that; we stole them already, but it's better to ask first).
