		Seriously, maybe I've just not played enough (I just came back to Rabanastre after escaping the prison) of XII, but why do people hate Vaan? I see no problem with him so far. Granted, Balthier is still far more awesome, hell yes, but Vaan's okay. Does he like, do something later in the game really stupid and lame that so many hate him for? Because so far he's fine to me.

		He just looks like a pussy the whole vest thing then there is the way he acts and he speaks. Everything about him is just pussyish

		This question constantly bothers me. I see nothing other than maybe voice acting that makes Vaan the worse character in the series. Clueless? That bad vest? Raised as a street urchin, those guys aren't well known for being "in the know" or stylish. Bad leadership? He's not the leader, Ashe is. That other thing you mentioned? He wants an adventure, simple enough. Now is there a real reason everyone hates the guy?

		So far it sounds like people hate Vaan just for the sake of hating him. "bad leadership and clueless" could be attributed to a majority of the series' protagonists.

		He isn't a leader. He isn't smart. He isn't clever or funny or have anything to say about the sake of things. Vaan's opinion that Dalmasca should be free from the Empire seems to stem more from ignorance about the world then any actual knowledge about how to make things better. There is no reason for this character to be in the game, and all he manages to do is slow things down (things don't pick up until Balthier joins the game, the first hour is nauseating). Vaan has a sweet, carefree additude with a warm heart. Which is completely sickening in it's unoriginality (he reminds me of Ash Ketchum in all the worst ways). If real people were like Vaan, I would become a mass murderer. Not to mention his lack of opinion about real topics. At first he seems to care very much about his brother's death, then fades into the background; forgiving Basch for no reason. Vaan tells Ashe not to use the Sun-Cryst in one of his few contributions to the storyline. Why? Because it's not pure and wholesome? The PC crowd wouldn't go for it? Fuck you! Grow some balls! The adults can take care of the heavy political drama of FFXII. You go run into some vapid mindless adventure game with no real danger or plot (Revenant Wings), and stay there. Oh, and I hate the sight of him. Put a fucking shirt on you loser. Basically, everytime I walk into a town or village, I have to look at this guy, when preferably I would never see him ever again. His voice actor also makes an already weak character the ultimate pussy. And I'm sorry, but voice acting counts. Vaan fails.

		Um....wow, just...wow, Blue. Are you sure you're not trying to convince yourself Vaan sucks? Because a rant like that is kinda overbearing. You try hard enough, you can make anyone sound bad, even Balthier. Again, though - bad leadership, naive, bad outfit, not clever or funny, again, that's about half the series protagonists.

		You're onto something there. FFXII was supposed to be a revolution for this series. We were supposed to break out of the same bad habits - love stories taking up too much of the plot, turn-based battles, random encounters, saving the world from one-dimensional villains who want to destroy everything just for the sake of being evil - and finally see some innovation. The series almost managed to grow up. But Vaan held it back. Everything any critic has ever said is bad about Final Fantasy is embodied in that one character. He's a disgrace. An embarrassment to this series.
