Much thanks to AndresTiger for finding this.
Terra's EX looks awesome, but her artwork genuinely confuses me, it looks quite different from the first view we got of her. Her chest is smaller and her face and eyes are different. Hm... All the same, you know what this means - the website update is imminent!!!!
Krystal Tomlin - "When prayers turn to promises, not even fate can stand in our way." TALK - Time to hunt down Kefka! - "Wouldn't wanna be you!"
At least her artwork is real, not purely fan-made like those fake Dissidia trailers.
NEEDS MOAR TERRA. | |||
From what I can tell Terra's Esper form looks awesome. She is definetely going to be one of my mains in Dissidia.
Hexedmagica - Rathalos: World Tour/All Ass Sword TALK - My companions' feelings have been etched upon this body. I'll change this eternal darkness into light! Heaven and Earth! One who matches the gods! CHOUGINGA GURREN-LAGANN! {{{time}}}
Noes! Her bewbs have shrunk...
I think we were fooled by her angle of leen. Since she is slouching back, her breasts are pointing out, seeming more prominent in pictures of titties-up. But now that we see more, its clear at it is (at least partially) a horrible horrible lie. But its still tons better than Amano's versions.
Terra looks so sweet, even with a sword in her hand and another in her waist!:P And Kefka looks awesome! Looking at his face, you just know he's about to do something really evil. Btw, based in the pic below Kefka's artwork, it seems that he's going to use some sort of toned-down version of The Light of Judgement. Interesting...
Better than Amano's versions? What, so when designing a character you'd simply add moar belts n' breasts and call it a night? Bah.
| |||
In all seriousness, I like the way Nomura was faithful to Amano's original designs. A comparison between the two, however, is void and rather pointless, because Nomura is a good pop artist, while Amano's drawings are much more complex and require more intuition. It's just two very different ways of working. I was merely mocking BlueH anyway.
I was merely mocking BlueH anyway.
Well that's shooting fish in a barrel isn't it? Anyway, I completely agree, Faethin. Nomura has emulated Amano's designs perfectly, and has even gone out of his way to incorporate Amano's work into his own, like Sephiroth and Tidus. The man has earned my respect anew for this game.
bahamut-shin :I am the only one, who wasn't fooled about his chest size for the first image??
P.D: BlueHighwind, what do you mean with "But its still tons better than Amano's versions" I can't see any diference
I honestly don't give a damn what Terra's "measurements" are, but to quote on Nomura's artwork, I am glad he incorporated Amano's work into his Dissidia designs, with it being most prevalent in the pre-FFVII characters IMO. Now that we have a release date for it in Japan in December, what I need to know is simple: WILL IT COME TO THE USA AND, IF SO, WHEN?!!!!
Personal preference. Nomura is not a saint either, but he's far better than Amano's kindergarten hand paintings. Though I will admit that it would be interesting to see a game actually try to emulate Amano's art style in the actual gameplay. Most of the time they have to dump all his stylization and make it look human (as per Nomura's work here).
"... and has even gone out of his way to incorporate Amano's work into his own, like Sephiroth ..." Maybe the page is wrong, but Sephiroth's article here says he was originally done by Amano, then modified by Nomura after that...
Technically, Amano originally designed half the main cast of VII. But Nomura is most-often credited as the main designer.
| |||
Really? Who else did he do? O_o
Aeris, Cloud, Sephy, Tifa, Red XIII and Vincent all have Amano artwork here, and I'll bet there's likely more out there, like CoD's Amano work.
| |||
Yes, but I was under the impression that those were promotional art done after Nomura designed them.
I doubt it, because Amano has done promotional art for VII, and this is what came out, while this is his other artwork. You know, that first pic actually amuses me. Now we have Amano-inspired Nomura, and Nomura-inspired Amano. :p
| |||
I am going to have to side with Dazuro on this one. Amano is credited as an image illustrator, while only Nomura is credited as a character designer for VII. Amano does character artwork for every FF game, but that does not mean he originally designed them. Just look at Squall, he has him as both a blonde and a brunette.
Side? Since when was this a debate?
| |||
Fine, then I agree with this statement Yes, but I was under the impression that those were promotional art done after Nomura designed them, and disagree with this statement Technically, Amano originally designed half the main cast of VII. But Nomura is most-often credited as the main designer. If Amano originally designed half of the characters in VII he would have been credited as a character designer. And just so I do not steer this too off-topic, I think Kefka looks much better in his full artwork. I thought I would not like his artwork from the headshot, but it does look better after seeing the full thing.
