Alright, we need to amend our User Image rules. That Kratos13 guy has taken advantage of our lax policy for too long, and now we have about seven trillion anime images that nobody will ever use uploaded. There is no reason for any of those pictures to be here on a Final Fantasy Wiki, and this guy continues to add more and more and more pictures of stupid nonsense. I don't care what rule is required, just think of something get rid of this insanity.
I would like to say thank you to BH for this. Really i mean it, thank you BlueHighwind. And i agree. I had to categorize most of them!
Indeed, each user should have a limit on how many non-FF images they can upload.
|
5-6? hows that? | |||
I have a feeling its 0-1.

So do I...Anyway, I personally think that 2-3 is a fair amount.
I'd say about 3-5 is pretty fair. EDIT: This would not include personally created fanart or art, no?
I don't want an exact number because nobody will be able to keep track of how many User Images a certain user has uploaded. However, a limit per time is better. I'd say no more than three per sitting. PS: Fanart is totally free from restriction (as long as it isn't porn).
I agree with Blue. Everyone else seems to get that uploading dozens of user images is abusing that privilege. How about banning a person (for a short time) who uploads way too many user images and then deleteing the images?
I personally don't see a need for uploading images not related to Final Fantasy, as you can directly link from Photobucket. That's just how I feel, though.
|
that guy is nothing but a image spamming anime freak...I think there should be a limit to user images! I mean, its not like anyone is gonna put 10 or more in their userpage. An average user probably puts like 2 to 5 of them in one time so let's just agree on a limit shall we?

Here's a better idea, since I'm sure you kiddies are too afraid to just up and say it: BAN HIM.
Edit Count, User: Kratos13
Outside of user pages and user talks, he's made two changes, one of which, on a walkthrough's navigation list, was reverted, and the other is found at Talk:Intangir (Final Fantasy VI), and is equally useless. Other than these two edits, he's done nothing but upload junk images and spam peoples' user pages and talk pages. In the two weeks he has been here, he has done absolutely nothing. He is even less useful than I am, and I didn't think that was actually possible. Treat him like the spammer he is, and just get rid of him. It is as simple as that. |
Thanks for the stats EG. I'll get round to deleting his images, if I can find them all. The next time he shows his face, if he's still babbling nonsense, the ban will be issued.

All of his images.
And no, it isn't an outside link, it's just how MediaWiki treats any URL that uses the full URL. Edit :: Obviously, not all are his own uploads, but those are all the ones he has stuck his hand in. |
If it's of any use, all of his images are up for deletion, so a glance at the Articles for Deletion category should be all that is needed.
Thanks for the help guys. Also: Image:Sent when Tamaki had the right to boss me i am more older that her.jpg I wish I was making that image title up.
Okay, so nothing is resolved except for some image deletions? Here is a proposal written to resolve and define our image policy more effectively:
- Fanart
- If an image is fanart, categorize it as Category:Fanart.
- if it is fanart created by anyone other than yourself, you may only upload it with permission from the artist which must be given in the upload summary and the description form must be filled accordingly. If it is uploaded without permission, templates "Copyright" or "VFD" will be added to the image and you'll have a week or so to get permission to use the image. If you fail to do so, the image will be deleted.
- Self-created images
- If an image is 100% self-created or a photograph you have taken, categorize it as Category:User Images.
- If an image is only partially self-created, i.e. uses copyrighted material in some form, but is otherwise created by the user (e.g. desktop backgrounds, character collages, etc.), it must have a rationale and be categorized as as either Category:Fair use images or Category:Fair Use Images not made by Square.
- If an image fits as a "self-created image", but is made by someone other than you, it must be added with permission from the artist. If it is not, the same rules as with fanart apply.
- Copyrighted images
- Any copyrighted image uploaded must have rationale and must be categorized as Category:Fair use images.
- Any copyrighted image that does not have rationale, such as random anime/cartoon or game images, must be uploaded to an external image hosting website. If it is uploaded to the FFWiki, it will be deleted.
This is a proposal of a policy that will make effective image maintenance in the Wiki and attempt to avoid the trouble caused by random image uploading. Basically, we would encourage the use of image hosting websites. Of course, discussion is welcomed.
I have an idea, let's create a photo bucket account by the name of FFwiki, upload most of the user images and delete the ones that are here, let's keep also from 2 to 4 user images, then they HAVE to be uploaded on PB
I've never used Photobucket, but I'm assuming that one needs a password? If so, would the password be placed on the wiki, or have the admins be given the password, and an email request needed to get it? The problem with the former is for anyone to be able to get in and upload...bad things, the problem with the latter is possible spamming of inboxes.
I like Blue's suggestion, it seems fair and well thought out.
You don't need a login or password to use Photobucket. Just go to the website, search what you want. I want "Tifa Christmas". So then I find the picture I want, go down to a white box below the picture. Click on Direct Link - Layout Pages and it will automatically copy. Then paste it where you want it go (here). For example: I will never stop loving this picture. They have to work this into the Compilation somehow. =)
Maybe if you'll write enough letters, BH. We've seen enough of the picture, btw. ANYWAY, the Photobucket idea.... problem is if it's only for User Images then we shouldn't bother, since if its gonna be used by an individual in his/her userpage, then its up to the user. There may not be a limit to User Images, but that's only if it follows the proposal above.
|
@BH: I was actually referring to the uploading of images to Photobucket, but thanks anyway. Never worked out how to put photobucket images on the wiki...
All right, I'll be spearheading the User Images Spring-cleaning and Housekeeping Project. That is when I'm gonna seek out user images that should be removed from our beloved fansite... hehehe... and possibly keep it clean for maintenance. Of course, I'll be giving all users time and chance to do what they can following this policy and guideline we've come up for images (and because I'm busy filling up content on the Spirits Within movie for now).
Crazyswordsman - Final Fantasy VI, because Drake says he wants to link to FF7 every day, which is bad because that game is so far inferior to FF6. TALK - 02:44, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Blue, remember not to delete fanart or original images.
No worries. The only ones up for deletion if they are found in Category:User Images are:
Those I won't delete are:
