The Bravely Default Wiki

As we decided late last year, the Bravely series is to be moved to its own site, as content beyond the original game has moved the series too far away from what we would consider to be first-tier scope. As of now, the FFWiki pages that we need to copy over have been copied, and we are now in the process of cleaning things up.

It's taking a while. There's a lot of red links we need to convert into cross-wiki links, a lot of templates we need to adjust... So anyway, since this is the period where we need editors to help out the most (at least until Bravely Default II comes out), and if we wait much longer everyone here is going to be distracted by Final Fantasy VII Remake, now's our best time to call over those who would like to help out.

At present, myself, Hexedmagica and Technobliterator are in charge of the site, and we have the same Fandom Wiki Manager, SlyCooperFan1. We don't intend for things to be run significantly different from how it is here, so anyone used to editing things here should fit right in.

This does leave the matter of how this will affect here. This is what will be happening:

  • The Bravely series will be removed from Tier 1.
  • We will be creating a tier between the current Tiers 1 and 2. This will be a sort of a Tier 2+ (and we'll probably just end up calling it that), this tier will be treated as Tier 2, but entries in this tier also have affiliated wikis that we will interlink with, like how we handle Kingdom Hearts now. At first this tier will just have Kingdom Hearts and Bravely (in that order), we hopefully will be able to introduce other Square Enix series that we have strong links to into this tier in the future. We have a proposed re-ordering of Tier 2/2+ over in the talk page for the scope.
  • Bravely content will be moved into non-FF sections in pages, and all entries in the series will be combined into a single header. Like our relationship with the Kingdom Hearts Wiki, pages with Bravely sections will contain links to the matching Bravely Default Wiki page.
  • Pages here that only cover Bravely content will be marked with a template directing people to the same page on the Bravely Default Wiki. Once we are confident that everything's in good shape, these pages will be removed on the FFWiki end.

These changes on the FFWiki end will take a while and the scope re-ordering is a massive change that will be a pain to sort out in full. But we will make sure these changes are performed without causing much disruption.

This is a change that has been a long time coming. There have been constant arguments over the years about how the series is documented here, and I think there have been quite a few editors that have never been happy with how it's working out. These changes make things the same as how we handle Kingdom Hearts, which is an arrangement users have been satisfied with for quite a while now. And we can and will make it work again.

What's the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2 content? Matthew Cenance (talk) 07:18, March 27, 2020 (UTC)

There's still a bunch of leftover files, redirects, categories, and pages we just plain missed because they were buried in a category full of redirects, but the Bravely series coverage has been mostly removed from the site. Aside from the general series overview, go to the Bravely Default Wiki from now on.
