Finally. I've been secretly hating all of youz that didn't use it. O.O  ILHI 14:39, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
For those of you who used to use a signature (as in a text signature instead of the timestamp) previously: Rather than displaying {{{time}}} where it used to be, you can add:
{{#if:{{{time|}}}|{{{time}}}|[past sig]}}

This will substitute the "{{{time}}}" on all old uses of the template where no timestamp was present with your old signature.

That is alright, isn't it Bluer? Because it's not as if someone' going to add the time to all old templates so they're just going to be missing something forever.  ILHI 15:47, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

My signiture already has a timestamp. Do I copy that code for my bubble, ILHI, or is there a different one? BlueLionheart Cloudy Wolf (T/C) 16:34, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Implemented. From now on type:

Maybe I can do it.

You only have to type

I think my template is starting to get too long. Oh well.

Type five tildes (~~~~~) not four (~~~~). Also, you forgot the equals sign.  ILHI 10:39, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
So laziness. Instead of {{{time}}}, change it to {{{1}}}

Requires less thought. Of course, on your talkbox, you should add:

That code will use the "time" parameter for everytime you used {{{time}}} but will ask for {{{1}}} if on a talkbox you didn't use {{{time}}}.  ILHI 23:45, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Because it's standard. Because it's what the timestamp is for. I'm sick of having to look at the page history to find out when some talks took place. The talk template is supposed to have it in; but some people were too stupid to work it: and then people looked at it as if it didn't need the timestamp.  ILHI 10:08, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't. I don't have a issue with looking at the History every time. If you do, that's your problem. - DeadlySlashSword 20:52, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
No it fucking well isn't. "Because it's standard. Because it's what the timestamp is for". You're told to sign your comments with four tildes for a reason; your talkbox isn't a way around that. The talkbox tells you to make the text parameter: {{{text}}}, and the time parameter: {{{time}}}. If you're so lazy you don't even use a timestamp, than your talkbox should just be deleted for being incompetent.  I Lion Heart I 21:07, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Also, there's no point in telling people to sign their posts with four tildes if they can just create a talkbox to evade recording the time. I just forget to put the five tildes in half of the time o.o 8bit 23:46, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
@ILHI - I do use the timestamp now. But as I feel forced to use it, I am compelled to complain about that fact that I have to, standards be damned. It's not a matter of incompetency, it's a matter of opinon. - DeadlySlashSword 23:47, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

If people here are extremely lazy, I have a quicker way around: don't use talkboxes I have a code in my js which allows you to add text up where a site notice would be. I use it for links and stuff; but you can use it for character insert: so it works just like those links do down there except you can't use tildes in them. So I could code it so I just have to click a piece of text at the top of my screen, and a template appears in the editbox. I find it fascinating. Any with, if you're lazy, you could make it so clicking it added {{mausername|time=|talk=}} to your editbox, then you can type ~~~~~ and your post in the places. If anyone is interested (which you probably won't be because you probably don't understand me) go to ma talk page.  I Lion Heart I 00:32, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Right, I've 'timestamped' my talk template. Sorry guys, I didn't realise displaying the time was part of wiki etiquette or that this was an issue for the admins. If it makes life easier then I'll put it in. Terra_Homing 01:41, 20 February 2009 (UTC) So we have to change because it's easier to archive? And instead of mutilating I can just use the four tildes, right( like now)?Kupo-dude 08:40, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

you put the time things on your template type {{{time}}} and every time type time=

with 5 ~ things--griff 14:10, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

I dunno if I'm really stupid so I really can't understand what should I do and what changed after this... I'm stilll confused. So how can I write my talk bubble timestamped? I mean, what code should I type? --Red-yellow-striped-apple 16:09, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

{{TalkTextTest2 |image=INSERT IMAGE |color=White |color2=White |textcolor=black |textcolor2=black |line=yellow |fonttype=times new roman |name= Insert name |sig= Insert sig. |time= {{{time}}} |text= {{{text}}} }}

This is the code you need to type in to have a timestamp function. Just type {{Template:Username|time=~~~, ~~~~ or ~~~~~|text=Blah Blah Blah}}. That should end most questions...Hopefully Cloudofdarkness was [| here] 23:57, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

You actually put five tildes (~~~~~), no more, no less. Three (~~~) gets you your username, four (~~~~) gives you your signature, and depending on your preferences, may or may not have the time included on it. So it's five tildes, people. {User:BfDsig|02:18, 21 February 2009 (UTC)}}
"scarlet" isn't a known colour on all browsers. in other words, the top half of your template is just white.  ILHI 15:29, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
