Day 4[]
10. Cactuar - 3
2. Odin - 16
Votes for 10. Cactuar[]
- Henryacores: Odin sucks. For me, it was a bad way of spending MP, and I only used him agaisnt those Big Sandbeasts on FF5, until I didn't have Leviathan. Gilgamesh and Raiden totally overcome Odin and Cactuar is not only awsome as a summon (direct damage rocks) but is also the thoughest monster to kill on the entire series
- Scottyboy4: He is the funniest lookin summon so i'm votin for him.
- Zario: He is a very unique Summon, so I pick him.
Votes for 2. Odin[]
- Crazyswordsman: Best summon ever.
- Blue。: Again, no contest.
- BlueHighwind: In one of my few midnight edits I have to vote for Odin. Cactuar isn't even Summon, its an enemy. Odin is a classic in the pantheon of Final Fantasy Summons.
- dudutsai: Didn't like the Zantetsuken because it didn't matter in harder battles, but Odin is still a ton better than Cactaur.
- Drake Clawfang:Odin is, along with Bahamut, Leviathan and Phoenix, one of the Four Iconic Summons of the series. Cactuar is...nothing to him. Come on. Cactuar uses 1000 Needles, Odin uses Zantetsuken. Cactuar is a cactus, Odin is a knight. Come on. Much like the last battle, this should really be a no-brainer. It's the upcoming third round brackets I fear, not this.
- Odin, in mythology he's king of the aesir (norse gods) and that plus teh Zanetsuken looks awesome! Hexed
- Azul: Who wants to vote for a Catus with a mustache? Not ME!!! Odin gets my vote
- Mymindislost: This was a really hard one (Jumbo Cactuar's summon sequence in FFVIII always cracks me the hell up ^_^), but I ultimately have to go with Odin. Odin is fucking awesome. Instant kills FTW.
- Adam Mcduck: In the 1st round i voted for cactuar. But since then i've had time to think and really i don't like cactuars as summons, i like them as enemies. So on that note i vote for Odin BUT i only really liked him in VIII. I liked him in others but this is the only game where i thought he was cool.
- Drake: Yeah, father of Thor versus a acctus. Hmmmm, let me flip a coin... no, wait, Odin.
- Well, actually, I liked Cactuar as a summon, I found it quite useful. But as an enemy I found them extremely annoying. I know this is a Summons contest, but the fact Cactuar was an annoying enemy is still preventing me voting for him. So I have to go with Odin, who I got all the time in FFVIII, who helped me out a lot. And his Revenant Wings artwork looks awesome! ~Chocobo Knight
- Jack says: Odin has been in every game since III (aside from X). Cactuar is a summon in only two of the main series games (VI and VIII). Now... Who might I vote for?
- Masamune: Yeah, he's badass. That's all.
- Pablo618: Ha! I'll vote for the one with a horse with six legs
- User:cloudofdarkness: Odin's special attack is awesome, instantly kill some one, or 1000 points of damage, so hard to chose
- SmegHead: Odin rulez!
Comments[]
Odin is well good, i especially loved it when he used that spear thingy when he didn't do instant death!
Day 3[]
3. Phoenix - 15
6. Titan - 2
Votes for 3. Phoenix[]
- Crazyswordsman: Titan's cooler, but he can't touch flying enemies. And earth is weak to fire.\
- Drake Clawfang: Titan Quakes. Oh no, I cast Float, bitch. Phoenix revives the entire party and does fire-elemental damage, which cannot be avoided with a measly spell like Float. Phoenix pwns Titan. Titan would stomp up and down creating earthquakes while Phoenix flies around yawning.
- AK Styles: As strong and useful as Titan is in his appearances, Mass Revival is just more useful you know? Also, had a great part of the story of FFVI.
- Henryacores: First of all, if these two clashed, Titan wouldn't be able to hit Phoenix and second: Mitologically, Phoenix is immortal, meaning it can't DIE! Who do you think it would won?
- Scottyboy4: Looks cooler.
- User:Booff7: I never really liked Titan and the FFIX summon sequence of Phoenix was awsome. Plus Phoenix, in my opinion, is one of the only useful summons in the series. Phoenix by a long shot.
- Blue。: No contest.
- Drake1: Phionex because it brings you back to life and deals damage. Not Titian because he only deals damage, and a low amount at that.
- Adam Mcduck: Way prefer Phoenix, the great bird of fire. Titan was just a big guy who could shake the earth. Wow...
- Yawn...I like Titan, but he isn't the best earth summon. There are other Earth summons, and most are cooler. However, Phoenix is unique. It does damage and healing (well, actually, other summons can kinda do that, but not in the same way of awesomeness). So yeah, I vote for Phoenix...doesn't like there is much point of it though...~Chocobo Knight
- Jack says: I personally never liked Titan, and never used it in battle anyway. I mean, it can't hit flying enemies, which is rubbish as a summon.
- BlueHighwind:Pheonix was essential for my battle with the Emerald WEAPON. Titan is a second-rate nothing Summon.
- Masamune: Phoenix. No-brainer. He was incredibly useful.
- dudutsai: Phoenix is more epic.
- Zario: Phoenix revives K.O. people...no match.
Votes for 6. Titan[]
- Pablo618: Titan because I want
- Azul: Think about it, who appears the most in the FF games? Who has a strong attack probably the thirs strongest summon of FFIV. Okay he looks cooler but who is better than The King of the Earth!!!????

Day 2[]
5. Alexander - 10
4. Leviathan - 9
Votes for 5. Alexander[]
- Crazyswordsman: If only for the FFIX scene.
- Mymindislost: Ditto. I liked him in FFVIII, as well.
- SmegHead: Tritto!
- User:Booff7: Leviathan looks cool I guess but I havn't liked any of his summons sequences. Since I don't use summons, (or any magic other than healing for that matter) I'm judging these based off looks and Alexander looks more awsome. Not a huge fan of either, I don't really care who wins this one.
- Faethin:Leviathan kinda reminds me of Kukulkan, the real Quetzalcoatl, which is one of my favorite mythological beasts. But Alexander and his FFIX scene... ah, that was the best cutscene of IX.
- Masamune: The ultimate holy power.
- User:FFFan: What masamune said.
- Adam Mcduck: Like Crazyswordsman, simply for the IX scene.
- Gold: Alexander. The scene of his "fight" (if it can so be called) with Bahamut in IX was the best ever. As I said previously, Alexander is the only summon I rank about Bahamut.
- Is there any point in me saying why I'm voting for Alexander anymore? So many others have said it: FFIX...battle against Bahamut. AWESOME. Thats all I need to say. Oh, as well as the usual, yeah, sure, I like Leviathan too...but come on...do I have to repeat myself? Battle against Bahamut...that is all...~Chocobo Knight
Votes for 4, Leviathan[]
- Azul: Because he is the God of the Seas. That's it, oh and I really don't know WTF Alexander is.
- Pablo618: Leviathan for the reason stated above ^^ (also thanks to him I will get adult rydia ;3)
- Drake Clawfang: Normally I'd give my vote to Alex for being able to battle Kefka in the Anthology cinematics. Then I did some research on IX and found out he's supposed to battle and defeat Bahamut. And that is unacceptable! NOTHING defeats Bahamut, He is the God of Monsters and King of the Dragons, the greatest summon ever! Bahamut would turn Alexander into a pile of scrap. So yeah, just to spite Alex, I'm voting for Leviathan. He's also a dragon (sort of) and like, Bahamut's little bro in IV, so it's not totally spite. Just mostly.
- Scottyboy4: Water rules.
- BlueHighwind: All hail Leviathan, the great serpant of the seas! Bow to his glory.
- Drake: I'm too pissed off an explanation. Sorry to all those that I didn't send a Thanksgiving message to, but I won't have time to continue sending them.
- Sir AK of Ham: Bow to the King of sea serpents, who can assume the form of a generic old man whenever he chooses. Also has a relatively hot wife (she's hot 1/3 at a time. Oh wait, not.) and is straight up BALLIN.
- Jack says: Only because he's God of the seas.
- Henryacores: Leviathan = King of summoned beasts and Alexander is based on a Greek King that was (you know what) by his mentor and kissed men...'nuff said.

The Alexander scene in IX was one of my least favorites. The best one is when Vivi gets pissed off at Waltz 3 for killing all the black mages and attacks him.
Masamune22 - "Please allow me to introduce myself; I am a man of wealth and taste." TALK - Time is such a relative thing...
One of your least favorites? It was easily the best scene in the game, although the one where you race B. Waltz 3 in the airships was also pretty cool. It'll be interesting if Alexander pulls through this so he can face off against Bahamut.
I wonder why humans were created without the ability to respect other people's subjective opinions. Strange innit?

Just want to make it clear that I do like Alexander, but I like Leviathan more. Alexander is named after Alexander the Great, after all, and Alexandria, hmm, wonder what that's named after?
I can't believe Alex is gonna win because of one BS cinematic. Oh well. Bahamut will show him who the *real* winner of that fight would have been next bracket.
| |||
Just goes to show you, yet again, that people are inherently mindless graphics whores.
"Hi kids, I'm Bahamut! I'm in nearly every FF game ever made, I'm usually the strongest summon, a hidden boss, and I have an awesome attack that's unblockable, pierces defenses and is non-elemental, making it so everyone feels the pain! Plus I'm a Dragon!"
"Hi kids, I'm Alexander. I'm in about half the FF games made, I'm usually a mid-level summon, you acquire me in random locations, and my attack is mediocre holy-powered attack, so you'd better hope your enemy doesn't absorb holy. Plus I'm not even a real monster! Oh, and in one scene in IX you're supposed to believe I beat Bahamut, despite the fact he's superior to me in every way.

If Alexander beats Bahamut I'm outta here. He's in about four of the games, and Bahamut was even in the first game.
Meh, if my vote was listed we'd have a tie.
Masamune22 - "Please allow me to introduce myself; I am a man of wealth and taste." TALK - Time is such a relative thing...
I never said that Alexander was better than Bahamut. On the contrary, I believe that next round Alexander will get his ass handed to him. Bahamut might have been destroyed in an awesome FMV in FFIX, but he's still a much better summon.
Day 1[]
1. Bahamut - 11
9. Shiva - 5
Votes for 1. Bahamut[]
- Crazyswordsman: Not a fight even. Bahamut is better solely because of the fact that he was more useful in FFIV and that in FFIX he had the best scene ever. There's no way he's gonna beat a GUY who looks like a girl.
- Drake Clawfang: Although Shiva looks hot in 3D, Bahamut is the Lord of Monsters and the iconic summon of the series. Bahamut roasts Shiva with Mega Flare, just as he shall roast all other challengers who dare test his draconic wrath.
- Big Daddy AK: As Hot as Shiva is in several installments, nobody can beat the kind of ownage the King of Dragons, Bahaman (Who let the dogs out? Who. Who. Who. Who.) unleash upon monsters in FFIV.
- Gold: The only summon that has ever truely defeated Bahamut was Alexander. The lord of Dragons / king of summons gets my vote unless he comes up against our castle-incarnate.
- SmegHead: Wow, tough choice. I so wanted to vote for Shiva for her incarnation in X but Bahamut is just so cool in every game he appears. A true icon of the series next to the chocobo and moogle.
- Scottyboy4: Bahamut is easily one of the best summons ever and way better than Shiva.
- Masamune: Nothing against Shiva, she was the first summon I ever actually used, but Bahamut is the King of the Dragons. Do you know what that means? That means he's going all the way. I fully expect him (it?) to win this thing.
- dudutsai:Both are good. Just Bahamut is better. By quite a bit.
- User:Lordoftheflames: Who can defeat the almighty Bahamut? This is an easy one. Shiva is nothing in the face of the King of all Summoned Beasts.
- This was a hard one, I truly wanted to vote Shiva for her incarnation in X, like Smeg, but Bahamut to me symbolizes more of FF than anything else, apart from Chocobos and Moogles. Hexed
- Adam Mcduck: Liked Shiva, loved Bahamut, the only Bahamut i didn't like was Xs but i'm not counting him. He is a dragon, that's one of the main reasons i am voting for him.
- Like many have said, Shiva rocked (and was hot...heh...) but compared to the legend himself, Bahamut, "Lord of the Skies," who rocks...no contest! You HAVE to go with him. Surely! ~Chocobo Knight
- Jack says: I like both Bahamut and Shiva, but gotta go with Bahamut on this one. Besides, Bahamut's attacks seem to get spazzier as the games go on.
Votes for 9. Shiva[]
- {Blue's vote)
- User:Booff7: I would've voted Bahamut if it weren't for FFX Shiva. Otherwise Shiva is just O.K. but X's Shiva was just so insane I have to vote for her (there is no possible way I'm going to beleive that Shiva is a guy.)
- Drake: Though I love Bahamut, Shiva was by far more useful in most of the games, as usually she is obtained near the start of the game rather than Bahamut, who usually appears toward the end. This meant that Shiva helped me a lot more than Bahamut throughout the entire series. So, I'm going to have to go with Shiva for this one.
- Azul: I guess since Shiva is losing I'll vote for her. These two are my favorites but since Shiva is doing bad I'll vote for her. She will prevail
- Mymindislost: Oh man, you HAD to pull this out for the very first summon vote? -_- I'm going with Shiva, since she's usually pretty hot and strong, and she's currently losing.
Comments[]
I thought it might never happen, but I must astain from this vote. These are my two favorite Summons of all time against each other and it would pain me too much to choose between them. I'm sad to see that these two must fight each other. Damn you bracket!!
I must abstain to vote too, this is really, really, really hard =(

Wow, good call. By the way, Shiva is not based on the Hind00 religion, it's a portmanteau/onomatopoeticon/random creepy thing based on how a black guy would say Shiver.

In Hinduism, Shiva is usually a man, but being the god of paradox, he is often depicted with the characteristics of both men and women. What is Ifrit from anyway?
Ifrit is a Muslim demon, often known as a Jinn or Genie. They are made of smoke and fire in contrast to humans who are made from ashes.

And here's a little fun fact to go with the topic, Genie is actually a diffrent spelling of Jinn, and both are pronounced like the alcholoic beverage Gin.
And they're both voiced by Robin Williams. Will the considences ever end?

I'm gonna bring this up, and everyone's going to say I'm still all crazy from the poll styled votes, but I think there might be sock puppets at work. Has anyone noticed that a lot of new users are showing up lately, and most of them already know how to make talk templates, userboxes, and usually vote with the majority when matches are like this, with a lot of people voting for one combatant and only a few (who, most of which have been users here for several monthes to a year or more) are voting for the other.
