In my opinion, Dissidia NT's content is different enough from Dissidia 2008 (original) and 012 to split the character pages. This would be better for organization, better for readability, and a better experience for readers overall. Additionally, the story of NT is barely connected to the originals at all.
Therefore, I suggest we split subpages from "/Dissidia" to "/Dissidia (PSP)" and "/Dissidia NT". While "/Dissidia (PSP)" is not an ideal subpage name, it's probably the least bad option; calling it anything else would either produce a long-winded name (bad for SEO, awful for us to link to) or a title that could confuse people.Let me know your thoughts.
Also, I was going to put a forum post regarding this during this upcoming week of the 22nd, so thank you Techno!
About the branding of the subpages: how about "/Dissidia" for the PSP Dissidias and "/NT" for Arcade & NT?
I mean, OO subpages aren't being called "/Dissidia Opera Omnia", just "/Opera Omnia"; this issue that's being discussed can follow with how things have being handled with OO. --Eco (talk) 00:15, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
- The problem with this is that this article naming could confuse people. "/Opera Omnia" works because there's no ambiguity; it's clear immediately what "Opera Omnia" is, whereas "/NT" may confuse at first. And naming the PSP Dissidias just "/Dissidia" may also confuse people if they can see subpages on the Dissidia, Dissidia NT, and Opera Omnia versions of a character, yet wonder why there's none for Dissidia 012, not realizing it's on the "/Dissidia" page. This is why "/Dissidia (PSP)" is probably our best bet, unfortunately.-- Technobliterator (TC) 06:46, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
I'd also like to see them split. It would also hinder people adding Opera Omnia stuff to these pages that I see sometimes. /Dissidia (PSP) is fine. ...at least until they release them on some other platform. It will be annoying to correct links to the pages, as a bot won't know to choose between /Dissidia (PSP) or /Dissidia NT.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:56, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
- On character pages and navboxes, I can relink those manually, and then over time, links can be fixed as we come across them. May make sense to just mass relink the rest to the PSP pages by default, as most of the links will be going there.
- Hopefully they won't rerelease the old Dissidia games on other platforms, as they'd be more likely to just iterate on or rerelease NT. But in the event that that happens, we'll just have to think of a new name, preferably one not too long winded.-- Technobliterator (TC) 17:35, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
I'm through most of them now. Once done, I will need to go through Category:Abilities in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT and probably relink those manually. Any other broken redirects can just be fixed with the bot. One thing I am thinking though is we'll probably need a way in the infobox to navigate to other Dissidia pages. Anyone have any ideas?-- Technobliterator (TC) 11:56, July 26, 2019 (UTC)
All done. I'll eventually go back through these to make a few adjustments, namely in the intro stating info such as whether the character is new to the Dissidia series or is returning, or is a DLC character, etc, as well as fixing links and presumably adding whatever infobox link solution for the other games (so far I'm thinking to just throw it in "More information" like usual). Another change I'd like to make is deleting some of these useless images, as I feel like images from the website are just weaker versions of the characters' actual render and serve no real value. If there are any other changes people think we should make, let me know.-- Technobliterator (TC) 01:16, July 28, 2019 (UTC)
