AND ITS TEH BEST GAEM EVAR! Bar VI, of course.
Glad to hear it, just makes me that much more eager for VI DS....oh come on, you all know it's coming! If IV DS makes money, and it will/has, we will get VI DS!
| |||
|
It won't, VII is way too big a same to fit on a DS, as I heard they barely fit IV on the cartridge.
| |||
If FFVI DS comes out, FFV DS will come first. A few twekings on the dialogs wouldn't come badly :S
Maybe not, it depends on how well V Advance did, I should think. And if we're going to rate their popularity, by how many times I've seen the games on used game store shelves, IV and VI outsold V by a long shot (seriously, I see V Advance in almost every game store I go to, and almost never see IV or VI. That says something).
| |||
I think it depends on tradition more than sales
To an extent yes, but as the scads of remakes, sequels and side-games prove, SE also cares about money. If they can make money off of it, it will happen.
| |||
I would like to see VII on PS3, because then, I might actually play it.
Krystaluvscloud: I want VII on PS3, too. I was want to buy IV DS, if I get enough money that is.

I got it. I must say that, so far, I'm impressed.

Also, keep in mind the DS version has new items, prices, and monster formations so keep that in mind because we need to edit articles.
I got it too, it is awesome. @Faethin: My version is in spanish, probably for the configuration of my DS, is your too?
Arcane Scholar 23:57, 28 July 2008 (UTC) I've already played thru FFIV advance and loved it, but i'm not a hardcore fan. Is it still worth it to buy IV DS?
If you like goofy 3D graphics and voice acting, get the DS Version. Just remember that you can't name your hero "Blue" (the game pretends to let you rename Cecil at the beginning, it's a joke), the crisp FMV video from the trailers are absent from the actual game, there are no Superbosses, and you can't decide your party - even at the end. I like the game, but I can't say I'm not disappointed.
There are two superbosses, Jergon and Protobabel EDIT: It looks like you would like better the GBA version
Well, I have to say this. Maybe I did exagerate when I called it teh best gaem evar. You see, I've found something about the game that has consistently annoyed me for quite a while now: Some of the enemies in IV DS, especially the lunar monsters and pretty much every monster in the Giant of Babil is incredibly cheap. Seriously. Cheap as hell. I think I hadn't fought a boss so cheap as Rubicante the second time I battle him since I fought Echidna in FFIII DS. And the monsters in the Giant. "Laser beam". WTF? An attack that does 1500 damage at least and that can be used over and over and over? And for what? 400 exp? 400 exp is NOTHING at the level my characters are. Truly cheap. </rant>
What the hell?!!?!? 400 exp?!?!? at the cave of summons they give you more exp! Anyways, I have the same rant, the monsters of the Sylph Cave and in the Land of Summons are really hard at times and give you some real crappy exp! But I'm enjoining the game nonetheless

Some enemies are cheap, yes, but others got a lot harder. Milon Z got harder with all his status attacks, Kainazzo got harder with his, and the Mom Bomb's explosion...hurts.
Mom bomb explosion is total rape. ALSO, when Rydia joins the party and you fight Golbez, it is actually hard!
not with dual cast rosa :).just revive her and cast raise twice and heal heal heal!!!
You don't have Dualcast at that point EDIT: Oh yeah.. yeah you do... but it's hard to get it

It seems like for this game defense went down but HP and attack went up...on both sides. A lot of attacks which dealt like 4 HP damage in the SNES version now deal upwards of 100 HP damage. Also, Gil is a difficult commodity (although I'm pissed that it's called Gil now...not because of translation reasons, but because Gil isn't supposed to exist at the time of FFIV because it's named after Edward).

Gilbart!!!! See, this is why you all should have bought Tactics A2 instead. *runs*
Well, I've joined the club of having FFIV DS and I'm as far as entering the Tower of Babil the first time with most of my front row characters (Cecil, Kain, Yang) around level 35 and my back row of Rydia and Rosa needs a bit of leveling up to do before I face Dr. Lugae and Barnabas, I think. Good thing I stocked up on Cottages and other sundries when I had the gil and the chance. What I'm curious to know is simple. How leveled up I should be by the time I beat Dr. Lugae and lose Yang in the DS version?
I recomend you to complete all the maps, that should give you plenty of random encounters
I have the game too, and in the short time ive played it, its become one of my favorites :D Im also at the tower of babil, all of my characters are at least level 40, and ive completed most of the Basement maps, and i keep getting whooped by Dr. Lugae.
Why the hell everyone gets so fast to the tower of Babil? I got the game like 2 weeks ago and I'm just at the sealed cave!
Dr. Loogy's final form can be annoying, with its Reversal Gas and its Restore. All you have to do is hit yourself to heal your party (Yang and Cecil excel at this) and use your most powerful healing spells on him. With Restore, the only thing you can do is brace yourself.

I should get it for my birthday. Also, I don't know if it was translated correctly, but I saw a trailer a few weeks ago for the Japanese version that said that this was Matriz Software's "Second installment of their Nintendo remake series." From this one could infer that after this comes Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI (I and II were not remade for the DS because they got the PSP treatment, which I wish they would give to The After. Hell, I'd pick up The After on the original NES if I had to).
He never uses Restore on me, he always starts with Reversal Gas, Reversal Gas, then combos of Flamethrower and Beam until my whole party is down in what seems like seconds, and most of the time, i dont have Rosa on my team because of Barnabas' Self-Destruct, and Reverse wont let me bring her back.
Not sure if this trick works on DS, but on the GBA, killing Lugae before Barnabas prevents them from fusing in the prior fight, so no Self-Destruct.
I have to say, with so many beefed-up enemies, bosses, and new abilities, it sounds more like IV DS is an entirely new game than an enhanced remake.
In the DS version, if you kill Doctor first, then Barnabas will run out of gas and explode if you dont beat him quickly, and thats exactly what i thought too, i never thought too highly of the original, but the DS version became one of my favorite games ever in just 3 days.
Im well annoyed that it's not coming out in England till the 5th of september :(

My mom got it for me today as an early birthday present. I played up to right before the Baron Waterway. I like most of it, though Kain's voice kinda annoys me. And Augments are given so rarely they hardly affect the game.
Right now, I have 9 spare Augments :P
I can't even get the game because I gave my ds to my cousin in exchange for sixty bucks to buy a copy of MGS4 =(

MGS4 is pretty damn good though. I hope they remake V on the Ds and then VI but i really can't see them making any more after that. I rekon they will remake the rest onto the PSP. I guess they can put the game on two seperate cartridges and realease them in in the one game.

I was so close to getting IV DS and XII: RW today, but noooooo. I have to use the money to buy school supplies and can't get any videogames until Christmas because my single income family is broke. Damn fuck! D<
I hope to God they don't remake FFVII with this design team. I don't want to giggle at the funny-looking Bosses and the glaring clipping problems. And they would lazily throw all the FMVs together as a demo mode in the main menu. Unexceptable! Imagine Aeris's death scene as part of the opening movie. And you can't make DS games with more than one cartrage. No memory card.
|
A few things. The team that developed FFIV did an AMAZING job, I love the design of the characters. ALSO, if V and VI get ported to the DS, obviously they will port VII, VIII and IX FOR THE PSP. Also BH, what's the problem with the opening FMV? I think it's non-important and the openning is just plain badass
Because now, instead of properly spreading out high-quality FMVs accross the game, they're all pushed into the opening. When Cecil becomes a Paladin, it's the same old boring graphics as the game itself. Where's the high-quality stuff from the opening? That's where, the opening. Some scenes that could have been amazing, like the Dwarves in their tanks fighting the Red Wings or the arrival of the Giant of Babel, are visually unimpressive and uninspired. Instead of a crisp, modern RPG, we're barely a digital step up from the SNES versions. Not to mention that the voice acting scenes seem to have been placed completely randomly. Some scenes have it, some don't. What's the deal!? It also means that the opening is the exact same thing I saw in the previews. Scene for scene. Not cool, man. Not cool.

SCM's idea is great but i also rekon a removeable cheap micro sd card that is in cartridge one and can be removed with the save file into cartridge 2 but this is a pretty stupid idea. As good as the opening was like Blue said the FMV should of been spread into little bits throughout the game like Revenant Wings.

In fact now that i think about it you can fit 2gig Micro SD cards into illegal cartridges and fit heaps on there . So why doesnt Square Enix catch onto this. They should be able to remake VII VIII and IX if they do this. Someone tell me if im wrong
Give Cecil Counter and Draw Attacks. All Single Target attacks will be drawn to him. Make him have Focus.
