No offence to your designs, but the one we've got at the moment is far better.

EDIT CONFLICT I think it's pretty good, I like it much more than the one we have now. (Balthier and Auron's....shoulder? Seriously?) The only thing I can find as a real flaw is that there is a bit of empty space near the middle, but this may just be so the logo is not clutered so that's OK.

As with like the one I made Image:Forum Logo Idear.jpg, it is no improvement. I like old one better. I could try again, but what would be the use?
For the love of GOD no chibi. I think we need a new header (It looks like the wiki threw up on photoshop and that's what was left after clean up.) but PLEASE no bloody chibi. We could have a few and change it based on upcoming events or holidays (A XIII motif when that finally comes out and we have enough info to actually make one, or a Fenrir thing for when ACC gets released. or for next april fools, replace it with a DQ slime.)
@BH: I think the banner's too big, but we sure need a replacement though.
How about using fanart instead? It's more customisable, but I don't know if it has to be official artwork. Here is my idea for it. Please note that that this is very rough, and by no means a final work. You get the general gist though.
Looks pretty great. Or maybe one chocobo would do. That's pretty much my idea.
SilverSummoner - Believe it or not, I've been stalking your talk page all these times... O_O Liek srsly TALK - 07:11, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I like Henry's design, but I think the colors are too bright and the "black mage" sprite doesn't match with other images thus making the design looked rather inconsistent... :D That's what I thought. ^^ Yuan's idea is okae, but the colors are too light.. I can barely see the writings on it. @_@
I have another idea, how about if we put
| |||
I'd go with the fanart idea, it's more "customizable" and probably more beautiful than pixels and colours crashing together
A number of people have said that they like this one. Slightly odd, as this was just me playing with Photoshop ^^;.
Henry thinks the crystals clash, and that I should draw my own. What does everyone else think? Anyone more skilled than me with Photoshop want to give this a try?

I don't much care for it Yuan, my apologies. I think it looks too messy. But I will take your suggestion and try my own, in Microsoft Paint nonetheless, seeing as how I don't have Photoshop. >_<
Simpler is better? I've left space on the side if we want to put extra things in (Chocobos?).
And who doesn't love Moogles? ;)
Probably people who recognized Mog from the Chocobo Series. Anyways, I love your moogle banner.
I do understand how such trivial changes entertain all of you, but these attempts at carrying out new changes to the banner is very.... lacking in terms of creativity and common sense. I shall forward my opinion with the hopes that it may guide you to the betterment of your designs. The colors of the banner should be "cool" and not "hot" as the yellow used in the proposed designs. The height of the banner should be reduced to an appropriate width, perhaps between 100 to 150 pixels or something in that manner. As for images, can't you utilize character artwork that create the illusion that the artworks seem to interact with each other - to mirror the forum purpose? I would have suggested making a prizeless contest amongst the community, but alas >;3
You guys are wack.--Asdf12356 13:04, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't like all of your designs -- putting it bluntly. Anyone who asks whether I can do better, I probably can: However, I've just taken two or three days (time escapes me) from the wiki and won't be doing so much editing over the next few days due to coursework. I'm not going to waste my time creating a banner. However, I will impose my preferred specifications:
- Width: ~500px
- Height: 150px to 175px seems about right.
- PNG
- Light/pale yellows or blues sound like good colours. Not because of the blues, yellows and whites the wiki uses in its design but because they just seem the best colours to use.
- I personally think textures would work better than flat colours. White/transparency might work but meh.
- Use official artwork, or manipulated official artworks.
- Use the same kind of style image across the banner.
- Limit the amount of images used.
- My laptop/browser/internet is/are shit.
That last one is irrelevant to the banner. However, it seems to be trying to stop me from typing this message. ILHI 16:00, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Hey, Yuan, when did you get back? Anyway, I stand by my idea of having a standard one that changes whenever something big is coming up, Be it a game release, or a holiday. Could be interesting, Hell, if that won't fly we can do a DC style thing where people post fan art and we vote for the "banner of the month." Exdeath64 21:45, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I have to assume you're oblivious to the original British English way of spelling "colour" or your one of those kinda people who think that everything should be done their way (ie. US Eng), and they get ticked off when it doesn't. (referring to an edit summary and not something he wrong in the forum) ILHI 22:05, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Actually, every few posts I have done have something like that (one time I fit half of a matchbox 20 song in, try to find it.), just checking to see if you lot even pay attention to those. After about 30 since joining the wiki, this is the first one that has been picked up. Congratulations. You have been used in a social experiment/minor joke. (And no, I don't care how people spell things on here. and before you say it, yes i have a life...) Exdeath64 01:47, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

What's with the slanted crystal? 0_o The colors shouldn't be too bright either.
I think you should add something like outer glow, inner shadow, bevel and embossing, or strokes... or something to make it look nicer. If you're using PhotoShop, right click on the layers with the FF images and mess around. You also want to add a few filters to the background to make it look less... well, bland. I don't like any of them, needs more popular characters. 1stclasswarrior 15:17, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

- I like all of Henry's designs. He's already uploaded one to the wiki, so unless other users want to create their own banner, should we just use his? Otherwise we might want to have a poll between several different designs. 8bit 16:08, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

- @Exdeath: No. =D Looking past the fact that it's completely fine the way it is, that changing the text whenever would be annoying for me to do, that due to copyright laws it's illegal for anyone BUT me to do it, that people would bicker whenever it was changed because not all will like the new dialogues, that there will be several pointless threads about "isn't about time we changed the dialogues", and a few other reasons I can't be bothered to write because I have a test tomorrow that I'm studying for, it's just an all-round bad idea =D --Hecko X 22:15, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

- Well, for one thing, I'm the "artist" who made it. Secondly, uploading to places like deviantART.com grants you copyright of your works =3 --Hecko X 08:25, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
- In many countries, copyright applies as soon as the work has been created. Unless Hecko gives express permission or releases it under a different licence, it's under copyright. 58.110.32.38 10:05, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

- Backround is copyrighted by Square Enix, but as I am not using it for profit purposes and because I give them the credit they require for use of their product, I have, as far as I know, not broken any copyright laws. The rest was (obviously) done by me, but the finished product, as a whole, is by law considered mine only. --Hecko X 12:20, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
