In case you haven't heard, FANDOM powered by Wikia is removing Monobook functionality. This mostly relates to it being impossible to keep Monobook alongside the the GDRP (a new EU regulation), as the data tracking used in Monobook would not be GDPR compliant, and the technical systems set up to make FANDOM GDPR complaint are based on the default skin, and they would have to build duplicate versions of those systems specific to Monobook and then run those systems in parallel with one. All that plus it just being too costly to keep, I'm sure FANDOM can offer explanations themselves on Community Central. For those using Monobook: Unfortunately you'll have to switch to the default skin. Fortunately, you'll probably find it's much nicer and easier to use than you remember, as there have been several improvements and changes made since its rollout both on FANDOM's end and on our end in articles. I encourage those who want to keep most of Monobook's appearance to consider using w:c:dev:PseudoMonobook in personal CSS. For the site itself: We will need to make the following updates:

Thanks for the PseudoMonobook thing! Still, I think they're using GDPR as an excuse to kill Monobook. Well, at least we have PseudoMonobook...—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 18:42, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
Why don't they just allow higher resolution background image already? The pixelated Warrior of Light and Tidus look so bad. Monterossa (talk) 18:57, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
- It's already allowed, but I'm going to change the skin soon anyway.-- Technobliterator TC 19:07, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
According to Special:Search, the following project and help pages mention Monobook:
and various "discussion" pages (anyone remember the Clan Primer? press F bois)
I'm not sure what you mean by "merging" CSS/JS. Will Wikia.* pages be phased out? If not, I don't see the harm in keeping those functions separate from Common.*, which will make things easier in the event that Wikia capriciously decides to switch skins. (Of course, if we know this isn't going to happen, then we might as well merge them.) Cat (meow ∙ hunt) 20:11, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
- From the thread linked:
- We are looking at consolidating the custom CSS/JS files now that we will only have the default FANDOM (Oasis) skin. We will update the community when that happens, but we do not anticipate communities needing to do any changes manually at this time. -TimQ
- They will probably be merged, it's worth us merging them too even if we want to keep a lot of functions in separate pages. In fact we were one of the only odd wikis out that use Common.* at all, most wikis solely use Wikia.* in all cases.-- Technobliterator TC 20:26, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
