Just for future reference, asking to become a mod means you'll never be one.
Veto. This is not a democracy. I think I can speak for all of the Admins here.
I go with Adam_Mcduck, or probably Yuan-chan. Whatever comes first in your mind, CSM or Diablo.
That's what I was saying to Henry today on the IRC, Yuan has progressed very fast and it's rare to find newcomers to the site that actually constructivly contribute to the wiki, McDuck has added alot to the FFVII related articles and Henry has no one area of expertise but he is a good editor. Those are my three picks for next moderator.
While Yuan is a very good candidate, I think we've elected too many mods recently. Give it a little while longer.
Yuan's nomination will have to wait a little. As for my old freind, End Game... VETO!
I nominate myself because my mom says I'm cool
I agree that Adam and Yuan should become Mods. One of them can be Pandaemonium, and the second one could be one of the Brothers.
Though there are two brothers, assigning two members would just be confusing as there is 16 blocks. ILHI 14:38, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Yuan being a mod. She has had experience and she works harder than I do...<gulp>
Give it time. It's only one month since she started. The early mods worked for many months and they hadn't anyone to nominate them for mod. So give this matter a rest.
No one nominated me? Ohhhhh... I agree with Bluer that we should wait a while before nominating any new mods. It took time and a lot of effort on Nel's and 8bit's part to get nominated. That emplty spot should not be given to someone for the sake of filling the spot. And as for EG: NO WAY IN HELL!
I support the moratorium on mod-ship. There has been too much talk of it recently for my liking. Lets wait a few months before we make start promoting anyone.
I think Ser Blue is right, I feel that this is too early (heck, I was here a little longer than her) so let's wait for a month or two or maybe a year...hehe...nope JK! and then rediscuss this matter (I guess...)
For the sake of symmetry, could we mod just one more person? Afterwards, I'd completely endorse the admins' position.
I vote for yuan too but I think we shouldn't even nominate someone until mid-may (If I ever am a mod I ask for pochika!)
I rather we mod someone for the sake of the wiki, not "symmetry". There is no question about it; no mod until the time is right, which is not afaik right now.
If symmetry really bugs you, you can *unmod* somebody... (runs away)
@Pan: Like you, maybe? Just kidding.
Of course they shouldn't be modded now, they were just my next picks.
Okay, guys, here's the deal: I'll promote someone every two months or so from now on. Just remind me when it's time and I'll look at someone's contribs and try very hard to decide who it will be. Diablo can do whatever he wants with regards to this. Maybe we can alternate months. I'll pick one month and Diablo the next.
Look if you need to "unmod" someone, pick me, I haven't been active in ages and just started on a new job so I will have even less time. A newcomer with tons of edits in namespace, surely deserves it more than I do.If you do unmod me, can I please at least be mentioned on a "Former Staff" page? I love this wiki and am very proud of having being promoted to mod. I just want to give new comers a chance too
You are on wiki-break 8at least that what I say) you are not getting demoded! You want to get demoded for the sake of simetrics? It's like taking out Lucys mod-powers, she just vanished one day but now shes back (every once-in-a-while, thou...)
Renmiri, the whole "unmod" thing is just a joke targeted at Faethin, don't take it so seriously o_O"""
Everyone on this wiki is so nice. I've been here barely a month, and 8 people have already said I should be a mod. Thank you for being so nice to a newcomer. It means a lot to me. ^-^
@Ren: No no no! You shall not be demodded! You're too nice a person. ;) @CSM: That sounds like a great idea. I was just about to ask whether mods could only be made once a month. @Diablo, Blue and BH: You neglected to mention the others :(.And I support Adam and Henry to be mods. They've been herer far longer than myself. (I think Adam has been here 14 times longer)
I happen to disagree with CSM, I believe that mod status are earned with sweat, blood and tears, but not something you get by "staying long enough" and somehow won in a lucky draw, in which happens to be the mod status. It makes things look cheap and degrading.
Nelo is right, the Mod Status has lessened since I've been here. Mod status is earned through contributions and hard work, the way I got mine and Nelo and most of the FFWiki staff.
The very reason I was modded was that I had "been here long enough". I almost feel bad about it.
IMO, mods should only be added if either
- Activity has increased and there is more edits to check, spam to revert, members to ban etc.
- Another mod becomes less active, and by that as in not visiting regularly.
Adding Mods on a regular basis doesn't help the wiki, it just means a lower mods to admin ratio, which isn't really a good thing. ILHI 15:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
A certain period for making people mod would be hypocritical and a shame to those who worked really hard to be one. I mean, modship shouldn't be given to people just because of how many time they've been here, but because of what they did here.
On other hand, un-modding is the most stupid idea I ever heard.Check the Staff page, I'll give two examples:
They DESERVED those titles, and if soemone plans on taking them, that someone must've suffered a lobotomy.
The only reason anybody should lose Moderator status is if they become an admin. I still don't feel right about kicking out TSD.
New Moderator?[edit source]
Seeing that it's almost two months now, should we make a new mod? I think either Adam or Henry are well deserving of that title. Thoughts?
Actually, Yuanchosaan, have you looked at your contributions? You've made an INSANE amount of minor linking edits - the most boring form of ediiting known to man. I know I could never do anything like that. I couldn't even finish fixing all the job system links. I'd say you're in line for some Rollback Rights.
See Yuan? Im not the only one who thinks so!
Ooh, new job! I'm going to get right on it...Thanks for your compliments, both of you, I think I must be the spiritual descendent of Blue or something...It's the only explanation other than a disturbing lack of sanity...
Personally, I say meh. I still reckon there are enough staff; rollback doesn't mean that much anyway. A member without rollback can do exactly the same as a member with, just takes a little longer to revert edits. Though that doesn't help my argument, and is more in favour of giving it to someone. But a member with rollback counts as a member of staff and the amount of active staff overshadowing the amount of active members. If I had to nominate someone though, Yuan, although rollback doesn't help much with all those minor edits, it'll make you look more like a key member; and Adam. ILHI 13:51, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Yuan, Henry and Adam all deserve it. But, as I've said it earlier, who needs mods when they cannot block anybody? Rollback Rights give nothing.
And FUCK EDIT CONFLICTS!
ILHI said it, mod is more of a social status than anything else. However, some people do like having a title.I'd have to say Yuan would get my vote.
Yuan deserves be mod ASAP. Mod is a social status at best, and Yuan deserves it.
I support Yuan for mod, but I don't think there should be a "schedule" where modship is planned out on a monthly basis. Otherwise we'll get people saying, "Well, it's been two months now, so let's pick this person even if she/he hasn't been really active or useful lately."
Aww man, that way I'll never be mod!...JK xPI agree with everything that 8bit says - time shouldn't measure the aptitude for modship, the one's skills do. That way, we'd be picking 5 year-olds for mods, as we wouldn't have anyone else to nominate. That's why Yuan deserves modship...4000 Mainspace edits...not your average WikiGnome, eh?
It's not the amount of edits that matter though. I've edited redirect links and links to disambigs to their meant page on some pages where I do loads in one edit. For example; User:Renmiri/Sandbox, and several people's User pages who leave the links in their best, next best, next best, worst table as redirects. However, when it comes to effort being put in the wiki; that is Yuan. ILHI 15:08, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Fixing links on User Pages is a waste of time. If the User really cared, they would fix them themselves. Perhaps they like the link the way it is. Some might even consider it rude to edit somebody else's page.
Meh. I was jus' saying it's not the amount of edits but what you do in those edits. I usually consider it rude to edit others user pages, but the links are wrong; the text on the page isn't being affected, just the code. I've also re-edited a few long FF4 pages, updating links; probably a better and more important example. But still; Yuan puts in the effort at a level worth authority. ILHI 15:35, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
I say Yuan or Henry. Is McDuck still around?
Adam hasn't been around for a while now. It had to be at least a few weeks before Crazyswords disappeared. Man, I do miss our coolest Admin.
Seems all we have now is Diablo, TA, and Bluerfn (sort of). I wonder where MMIL went. I miss the Magicite Madness days :(
I vote for Yuan, she definately deserves to be a mod.
Most of the Admins, or all of them are college students, and I think they have Finals and stuff like that. That must be the reason why they have become less frequent.
YAY for countries that don't have Finals!!!YAY!!^_^
Ah, by my "two months" statement, I was referring to some of the responses above about it being too soon/waiting for a few months. Sorry, I was a little unclear on that -_-;. Thanks to everyone who nominated me - the fact that the people on this wiki think I am worthy of mod status is worth far more to me than any amount of Staff positions.
Come on, Diablo! We elected you to Buearacrat position months ago. Why hasn't Yuaney gotten her Rollback Rights yet? Its been three days, and nobody has protested.
I'd nominate the mentioned. Yuan especially. I'd nominate her for adminship, if the time came.
No way. Yuan still is way back in the line for the next Admin slot. There's Nelo, Drake, Faethin, me, and Azul who have all been here longer, and are more deserving.
