  23. He's the only character to appear in two different games in the series as the same person. Sure, there's a Cid in every game, but they're all different people. Garland survived in to Final Fantasy IX, which is easily one of the best titles in the entire franchise. Clearly, the father of Zidane is the winner here.   16. Shiva is awesome and is very useful, but Shiva didn't get a really cool FMV of riding out of the sky and using a lance to obliterate a giant tree. Hate to say it, but my vote is due to that one scene.
