The MoS needs some amending, and so I've written the standard the MoS needs to be updated with below:

A Location article should include:
*An intro, which determines which game the location is from, and summarizes its placement in its setting.
*A '''Story''' section for events that occur at the location.
*A '''Locations''' section covering how the location is accessed and its placement in the game's world, and featuring sections for each of the multiple sub-locations or sub-areas that compose the location individually. Descriptions of the setting, events, interesting dialogue, and items found should be listed here.
*A '''Quests''' section covering every individual subquest, sidequest, or minigame related with the location. In instances where a quest takes place over multiple locations, the quest should have its own article and be mained, featuring only information relevant to the location in question in the section.
*A '''Shops''' section covering the inventory and prices of shops found at the location.
*An '''Items''' section listing every item obtained in the field, with the sub-location it is found and a link to the section given. Criteria should also be stated if it is not always present or accessible in the area.
*An '''Enemies''' section for enemies found in the location, divided by sub-location. Most games have specific sets of enemies that appear, whether through random battles or visible on the field map. If so, the section should be called '''Enemy Formations''' and list groups of enemies, and potentially encounter-rates and battle-type information. Denote bosses with the unlinked phrase (Boss) following each linked enemy.
*A '''Musical Themes''' section listing the tracks that plays in the location and when they are played. This includes music that plays during specific scenes that take place at the location.
*A '''Gallery''' section if there are any useful images that do not fit into the article space.
*A ''Trivia''' section if there is any additional information does not fit into any other section of the article (but we don't like Trivia sections).

Also, maybe mention of "Other Appearances" and "Etymology" sections somewhere. I know they're universal sections, but so is Trivia and Gallery.

I also don't think we have a guide for World/World Map articles. They need "Landscape" and "Civilization" sections. In the case of World Map they would also need list of locations.

Landscape and Civilization section could go in location articles, but we don't. Discussion about a list of people has always been on mind. These go on the List of Characters page but are not found on locations page, and even then it only pertains to named and/or notable characters. For people, under relevant Quests sections, for FFIX I'm doing a Tetra Master section, and for VIII we would do a Triple Triad section. FFX would have a Blitzball section, X-2 would have a Sphere Break, Matchmaking, and Campaign sections. These would ideally have models of the person and their location. A screenshot might be more useful.

A noticeable omission is an Items Found/Treasure section. This is because part of the Locations reformatting was that Treasures Found were terrible at specifying when and where items are found, so they were instead put into a Locations section, where their placement is described in prose. Iifa Tree, Celsius, Terra (Final Fantasy IX), Nibelheim, Dali.

However, I think Items Found may be a good idea, like Oerba#Treasure, except all of the locations use article-internal links to the Locations sections of the page where the exact position of the item is said. In addition to Location, a column for Requirements should also exist. However, I want to think of a name for such a section. I want the section to list all items, so maybe "Items" may be a good name, but it also includes equipment which may be seen as confusion. Although it shouldn't, since equipment usually appears in the items menu and thus should be covered in those pages. Eh, "Items".

The above is probably rambling, basically do we agree on these things:

  • The current standard for a perfect article which I wrote at the top. Any opinions on it?
  • The (re-)addition of an "Items" section in the style I suggest?

Hmmm. So, what you suggest above is largely similar to what we have for a lot of articles, and it works well. So yeah, we can go with that. "Items" or "Treasure" I can go with, and I support the idea of this section if it isn't working lumping them in with Locations. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 18:26, May 1, 2013 (UTC)
Approve of structure and definitely add items back. Doreiku Kuroofangu 18:27, May 1, 2013 (UTC)
I'm sort of partial to "Items Found" in terms of section names, but I guess that's just me? Otherwise, I broadly approve of the statements made here regarding proposed additions to MoS location sections. As I mentioned on the MoS's talk page, if you need something changed in the MoS, you need only ask. Jimcloud 18:32, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

I think a global treasure checklist with links to the areas they're found looks simpler and more organized than listing them on prose. The best choice is to do both things - 81.193.185.222 21:34, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Agreed, a table or even a ul would be better than prose. Anything but forcing readers to dig through a wall of text to find one item that they might be interested in. C A T U S E 03:34, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
But that was always the problem. Items used to be just listed with no indication of placement, or also sometimes given sub-locations-- still with no indication of placement. You need the prose to be specific.
No, ULs are horrific. JBed (talk) 15:39, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not a big fan of uls either, and pages will need some prose -- but simply listing items in a paragraph doesn't work. Perhaps something like this:
===Room XYZ===
  • Potion - top left, behind zipper statues in hidden chest
  • Phoenix Down - bottom right, find in pocket of woven blue fabric on wall

The treasures in FFXII are random with x% chance for each appearance of a chest and x% chance for it containing this or that. I have added a treasures header to FFXII location articles where I have listed the pattern of what kind of treasures appear in the area (in most cases areas have similar treasures in the chests; in the early areas you get Potion/Eye Drop/Money and in some later areas you get Hi-Potion/Antidote/Money or some areas you get Motes/Knot of Rust/Never get money etc). Then I have listed individually the treasures that can have what I considered to be an exceptional treasure, such as equipment or a large sum of money, or treasures that never respawn once claimed.

You can check http://ff12maps.com/ for all the treasures. It could be difficult to replicate this info entirely on the wiki. We'd need to make numbered maps and then put in a table where each numbered treasure is explained?

We are completely missing any info on treasures in Zodiac Job System version, as they redid all the treasures for that version.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 11:33, May 3, 2013 (UTC)

I probably should mention the Enemy formations section:

Under the enemies section we should write details about the enemies. For Dali I wrote a bit, and for Terra I also wrote stuff. Nibelheim is probably more what we should be looking at (except it doesn't need to be in Quests, but in Enemy formations).

I think when I wrote those sections I had the dilemma of making Quests sections: "Friendly Enemies" as a section under Quests on Dali, and a section under Quests called "Blue Magic" on Terra. But in the end I just left it in Enemies.

Also, we need to be mentioning items of interest. So we need to be mentioning important Item Farming things, the Train Graveyard will need to mention the Ghost drop or whatever it is that I think is associated with the Graveyard.

So should "Blue Magic", "Friendly Enemies", "Item Farming" (et al) sections be written under Quests (like we do for Mognet, Tetra Master, 100%, Date Mechanics, and anything else that has points in one place but is found in the entire game) or leave it to explaining them in the enemies section?

Also should we rename Enemy formations now that it aims to contain more than just the list of formations? Just "Enemies"? JBed (talk) 19:43, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

I prefer Dali's system, I'd rather we leave enemy strategies and info to the enemy pages, they're often quite bare anyway. If we go with Nibelheim's style, we should encourage the transplanting of the location article info to the relevant enemy pages.
Concur with other points on items of note, blue magic, and header name. Drake Clawfang (talk) 19:56, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
