		Okay, the premise of the topic is this: Which character would you like to see paired up with Genesis in a fight/popularity contest? I have vague, ominous reasons for making this topic, which are actually probably ridiculously easy to figure out. In fact, I'll tell you, & hope to Cosmos that there isn't a rule against this kind of topic: I want Genesis to appear in the Dragon's Neck Colosseum. He never has, so I think it's about time. But I think all of the suggestions at present are retarded. (Kuja, & freakin' TWO Sephiroths). I want it to be an interesting debate, not a boring waste of everyone's time where one of them just gets easily squashed, so try to keep that in mind. Here are my ideas: Terra Branford In common: Sword-&-magic users, freaky half-summon things, used by an empire, Romantic (not pertaining to love story) themes. Problems: VI & Terra have a fanbase that is probably much larger than Genesis's, so I'm worried about a one-sided fight. Angeal Hewley In common: Not much, really. In fact, I would argue that Angeal is Genesis's antithesis. He doesn't seem to use magic, he fights very ungracefully, etc. The reason I suggest him is because they have a pretty close fanbase, & the game has them fight, but off-screen, & unresolved. I, personally, believe that this would be the most interesting one. Problems: 2 FFVII characters, Angeal is fairly unpopular. Worried it will get rejected without much hesitation. Seymour Guado In common: Both are strong physical attackers, but also have good magic in their arsenal. Both are main antagonists who are overshadowed by a secondary antagonist (secondary in their game, anyway), both killed one (or both) parent(s), both tried to merge with a summon, both recurring bosses. Problems: Seymour & X seem relatively unpopular to me. He's also so magelike that people might just write him off out of preference. Worried about a one-sided fight. And another one that was suggested to me: Vincent Valentine In common: Both worked for Shinra, both indirectly responsible for Sephiroth's madness, both experimented on, both seemingly immortal, both have something of a dark theme to them (even for VII), & they even dress similar. Problems: Vincent will probably win, another all-FFVII character suggestion, & honestly, I don't feel these reasons are that great (no offense to the suggestor, of course). So, why did I make this topic? In short, I thought it would be interesting if I got input from the Wiki to help me decide on this issue. Make your own suggestions or agree with one here. Either way, note that this IS NOT a poll. The character with the most votes will not automatically be submitted by me (as that would be pointless), I'm just looking for input to help me make a more informed decision. Lastly: I hope this topic is allowed to stay, but I'll certainly understand if it is deleted. The subject is somewhat controversial, and leaning on triviality, even for a discussion forum. Thank you, &/or I apologize, in advance. PS: Please do not suggest characters who would obviously win via plot or fanbase reasons. Plot reasons meaning, if the character is shown to be stronger or weaker than Genesis (so, Zack & Sephiroth), or an inference can be made that he is stronger or weaker than another character (Cloud, as he's probably similar to Zack in strength). Fanbase reasons meaning the character is so ridiculously more/less popular that it won't even be a contest. This one will be much harder to figure out. Just use your best judgement on it.

Second of all, you are right, Genesis deserves a chance and I choose Vincent because it was my idea choose him and I love everything that was my idea.

TZ, are you serious? I've wrote much longer comments than that, in reply to a post two paragraphs long. It's actually quite disturbing. But if I'm talking about something I love (or someone I hate, heh :3) then I can write loads. 		If it weren't for all the details I had to give people to make sure they knew exactly where I was going with this, it would have been about half that size, maybe less. Other than that, I'm verbose. What can I say? As to how I can type that much, I seem to be nearly immune to carpal tunnel....

But this topic isn't about that, we should decide who is Genesis's foe, a idea that I'm supporting.

		Right, well, as I said before, I'm in favor of Angeal, right now. What I really want is for fans of games other than VII, Tactics, & X to show up, to see if they can enlighten me to a better character to use.

		Well, i never really liked Genesis, but for a fair fight, id probably say Squall, but because of all the VII fans around that hate VIII, thats not even worth considering... Amarant would be a good one too. Genesis vs. Shadow might be interesting too.

Merely vague concepts...": I know a lot of those characters (except Shadow but I'm trying to get FFVI) and Squall will destroy Genesis and Genesis will destroy Amarant, I can't believe how hard is to find a decent foe for Genesis.

		The main problem is that there's so many people who hate FFVII. Yes, I realize that there are a lot of fans here, as well, but I've seen at least 3 users who flat out state that they wouldn't vote or approve anything from FFVII, regardless of what it was. If that isn't a detriment to the cause, I don't know what is.

Nah. I can't think of anyone from Tactics who could go up against Genesis. Most of the achievements in FFT are built around teamwork, ie, groups of about half-a-dozen fighting together. Therefore, no single character is hugely, amazingly brilliant on this kind of scale - sure, they're good, they've got decent skills, characters, magics, etc, but none of them are genetically enhanced super-soldiers with fiery swords capable of massacring thousands. Lets face it, Genesis is, in terms of in-universe strength, only a few short steps below Sephiroth, if that. Like we've said, finding a decent nemesis for him will take some doing. Maybe Agrias, Ramza and Mustadio together could take him, but [shrug]. The Man In The Black Cape 13:30, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

		Actually, I'm not sure if you've ever played War of the Lions, TMITBC, but there are a few battles where you can play Delita, essentially alone, & you rape a small party of enemies. And, to be quite honest, he doesn't really need you in any of the guest fights he's in, after attaining Holy Knight. The thing is, I don't see how anyone from FFT is anything like Genesis. And, looking at the nominations page, it seems likely that Genesis vs. Kuja is going to get through, if anything does. I don't know, thinking about it, I guess he's pretty good. Wants everyone in the world to share his fate, magic user, summoner, and the guy who submitted the idea said they were both poets. The one thing I don't like about this fight is that I don't know jack shit about FFIX. Incidently, how popular is Kuja, relatively speaking? Also, congrats on the fight, TZ.

		Jokes on Kuja's supposed mysterious gender have become popular, and he is one of my favorite villians, but since the coliseum is more of a popularity contest for the games, rather then the characters themselves, these days, Genesis is going to crush him... I think ive only seen a small few battles where a VII character loses, and its usually one of the less popular ones like Cait Sith or Yuffie. I still stand by my opinion that Squall would easily destory him and his little play, but he has a small chance of winning.

		I really can't see Genesis being all that famous. He was a side-villain who wasn't in the original game that no one really understands fully. I'm starting to think it might not be such a bad idea but, hey, I've been wrong before.

		That could explain it. So, do you guys really think that Genesis might be more popular than Kuja? Because I was assuming it was the other way around. Like I said, my biggest hang-up with that fight is that I don't know Kuja. From what I read of him, he seems awesome, but all I know is what I read.

		In popularity of the characters, Kuja is more popular by a landslide, but msot Coliseum matches these days revolve more around popularity of the games then the characters. Ive seen quite a few matches where a character everyone admitted they hate won because "their not from VIII" or "Their from X, which is much better than VI".

		But wouldn't that same logic lead to a lot of votes against Genesis? Sure, FFVII is popular, but it's also got no shortage of people who really, really want to dump on it. I see what you're saying, though. I've read that in a lot of comments, & I've been active in there for like what, 3 fights? I think that, if that fight isn't in place, or arranged to happen by the next time the DNC changes, I'll suggest Genesis vs. Angeal. They may be same game characters, but it would be close. And isn't that the important thing? (I think it is.)

Genesis vs Kuja doesn't seem so bad. Kuja I think is more powerful (when he's in the mood he can destroy an entire planet) but Genesis is no baby kitten either. They're fairly comparable in terms of dialogue, Kuja trying his best to sound Shakespearean, and Genesis quoting from LOVELESS, but Kuja tends to lose out (in my mind) in terms of coolness because he looks like a girl. 		I would admit that Kuja is more powerful, but that has more to do with the mechanics of the worlds, I'm thinking. Anything planet-destroying in FFVII games is going to take some time & probably more energy than one person can dish out. Kuja...it is so hard to forget that man-thong. As far as magic casting goes, Kuja is probably superior. From the repentence angle, Genesis actually did something about it. Kuja is more powerful, but Genesis had the interesting trait of being a juxtaposition of Sephiroth. I may actually have to vote for Kuja, if this fight goes through. I'll decide when & if it happens. Probably vote for whoever is losing after a few days.

This topic is probably dead by now, but here's an idea for someone who can fight Genesis: not Squall, but Seifer. They've both got semi-romantic tendencies (not talking about relationships here), what with Genesis going on about LOVELESS and Seifer's dream of being a Sorceress Knight; they're both fairly accomplished swordsmen, and they're also both skilled with magic. Genesis can hold his own against people like Sephiroth (or to my understanding, he can), while Seifer's got the skill to actually kill a GF -- not defeat, but actually KILL, as in permanently DEAD.
