Caius's resemblence and personality[edit source]

I think the more logical way of seeing it is that is the original character created for FFXIII before Fang was conceived to take his place. But I wonder if there would be other characters dressed like the Eidolons? 22:55, January 28, 2011 (UTC)
Sky Warrior RW.png

I don't see the resemblance (apart from colours) can someone explain it to me. 08:59, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

Maybe he is the warrir of another god or maybe a rouge eidolon. :-) -I'm the King of Wonderland, Sultan of Oz, and The Mooglelord, Mwahahahahahaha! 15:10, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

...On to the game...(for info on what I reference, visit tvtropes.org). In a bit of a departure from her persona in XIII, Lightning, a la the trailer, is much more...faithful and even gives herself a Mission from God ("Etro, I will defend your legacy"). Now, on this very wiki we're given a bit of info on the three primary Gods of the Fabula saga. It looks to me like a reverse of the Trinity. In the Trinity, all three add up to a singular God, and have/represent attributes of God in Christianity. However, here, they are all quite different, separate gods. Etro, despite being heavily associated with Death, seems to represent 'God is Good' (she gives people the power of their "Hearts"...or something). Buniberzei, to me, seems a lot like Marduk from the antient Babylonian religion (he doesn't 'off' his mom, but sending her to the World of the Dead is...basically the same) and seems to represent 'God is Flawed'. However, Lindzei...is very interesting. Barthandelus based the design of the Maiden half of the last defense for Orphan off her. And, after all, Barthandelus isn't a nice guy...at all. Could Lindzei be 'God of Evil'...and why is Lightning suddenly defending Etro? Shes hardly mentioned at all in XIII. Is Etro promising to restore Fang and Vanille? These things, I wanna know now! Ugh!

Just saw the new IGN trailer ten times, and the man's appearance at the end was a huge surprise, just like Hope's. I was shocked to see him smirk, and hear him make his first sound: a "Hmph" kind of like Sephiroth in CC and ACC. I'm looking forward to his first real lines of dialogue. His outfit and bandana almost looked like FMV quality. One more thing: it looks like he's got purple eyes too. User:FFfangirl 2:52 p.m., August 25, 2011

When I first saw him, I could only imagine him with Kain's (Liam O'Brien) voice. Now that I heard the "Hmph" I definately know that Liam is his voice actor. That, and some random voice actor tweets... Koharu Nami 01:05, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

Snow has yet to be announced, a possible turncoat?[edit source]

It's a hunch, but maybe Snow's going to end up as a bad guy. Werehog 2:32 PM 6/3/2011 (UTC)

Like i said before. What gives you that idea ? --Frieza14 21:44, June 3, 2011 (UTC)

Sky Warrior RW.png

Snow's absence just reminded me of how in some of the earlier trailers of Dissidia 012, Tidus, Cloud, and Terra were absent, but they were then revealed later on to be on Chaos's side. So I thought Snow would make a drastic change for the worst, the worst being that he might have become the opposition, or possessed in the story. Werehog 4:09 PM 6/3/2011 (UTC)

I guess that means Hope and Sazh will be bad guys as well...because, you know, they're absent from the trailer. Dennis Q. Ly 03:44, June 4, 2011 (UTC)

Well, maybe, I hope I'm not right. Werehog 9:21 PM 6/3/2011 (UTC)

Character Customisation[edit source]

Oerba Dia Vanille by Badka neechan.jpg
Yay! Someone that agrees with me! :P Clarent  (talk/ contribs) 21:56, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
Changing your costume would be the most fundamental change since the abandon of the world map/airship concept. No but seriously, I would find it rather cool, if the clothes would change (even if it is solely story driven and not the player´s to decide) because I find the overall design fitting but imo Lightning´s old appeareance is better than her new fantasyesque armour. 16:00, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Serah's Weapon - "The Bow-Blade"[edit source]

  • at 1:16 it shows Serah slashing an enemy with her new weapon, in its sword form.
  • at 1:28 it shows her shooting with her weapon in bow-and-arrow form.
What are your thoughts on her weapon? I think its cool how her weapon is similar to that of Lightnings Gun-Blade. What do you think it would be called. A Bow-Blade?
    Ixbran 04:44, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
Eh. I thought of the gunblade thing as well. Nice combination. Clarent  (talk/ contribs) 05:42, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
Yush! Cant wait to see more shots of Serah in action.
Ixbran 06:03, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
I was kinda excited to see Serah fighting with non-staff weapon. From what we saw from her in FFXIII I considered her to be the typical white/black-mage-female-character the series likes so much. But seeing her with a bowblade made her instantly cooler. I think that in the trailer we saw her as ravager, so it might be possible her abilities are actually similar to Lightning´s. The only thing I am not satisfied with about her new weapon is the question what she will be shooting. Idk, firing infinite bullets w/o reloading seems more plausible to me than unlimited arrows, as long as they are not energy-arrows. 15:53, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
They seem to be crystalline arrows from when Noel was firing them. Given the ties between crystal and magic in this game, it's probably safe to assume they're an energy arrow substitute. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 17:38, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

I am in love with Serah's new weapon. It's so amazing! I can't believe how freakin awesome she is with that bow! I was so suprised when I saw her just pull that thing out of nowhere!!!! 8D Koharu Nami 22:41, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

M=PM?[edit source]

So, I was looking at the pictures, and I was reading a blog detailing what could be seen in the teaser last week. Well, something caught my eye, and I can't stop thinking about it.

FFXIII-2 On-map moogle.PNG

Look at the picture. You see Noel and a Moogle. But, look at the map in the upper right corner. It shows the player icon for Noel, but, other then that, all you see are two blue dots. Well, blue dots = party members, and I have a hunch that that moogle is a party member. I assume that the other blue dot is either Serah, or that mysterious tie-wearing girl in the other picture - with Serah and the Moogle. Seriously, a character isn't shown that much unless they have a major part to play in the story. And you don't just find a random person following the lead without them being a party member. So, thoughts anyone? A.J. two (Smashboards) 05:00, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Personally, i think that would be super cool! This would be the second Official Moogle Party Member sense Mog of FFVI. I wonder what kind of fighting style it uses, if it is indeed a party member.
Ixbran 05:03, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

And, after just watching the E3 video, I got this picture from right afterwards.
FFXIII-2 On-map moogle2.png

I know it isn't very high, but you can clearly see the Moogle, and the party member icon following close behind Noel. A.J. two (Smashboards) 05:13, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Moogles are the best! Clarent  (talk/ contribs) 06:57, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Just a thought, but if Mog is a party member, he's not big enough to really physically fight. On the other hand, there are enemies shown on your side. It's possible that he transforms into them for combat. It's possible he gains new forms from defeating different enemies. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 15:04, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Maybe this Mog is something like a pet to the short-haired girl Alyssa, whose friend has died during the Purge. While she was kneeling in front of a grave a Mog also flew around her, so it might be possible that he fights alongside her. Personally I was a little bit shocked seeing a mog in XIII´s setting. I don´t know. I don´t really like them (yeah I know: purge the heretic!) and in the trailer the Mog looked like an ugly plush doll. But this transform-idea is interesting, maybe mogs would then have in this case any actual skills. 15:40, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Lightning[edit source]

Can somebody tell me how Lightning is able to summon Odin? I mean, only l'Cie can do this, right?—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 06:44, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

I can't, but I thought of it as a sort of "spiritual bond" thingy.Clarent  (talk/ contribs) 07:00, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure the explanation behind the l'Cie thing is that humans are all capable of everything a l'Cie is, but becoming a l'Cie unlocks it outright. Lightning most likely either is still unlocked because of her experience or is just that powerful at this point. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 14:55, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
I think it´s stated that Eidolons are sent to aid by Etro, so it might be possible that they usually live in the dimension/realm of the dead/whatever-it-is-called-ingame. And since Lightning seems to be in this dimension, she can interact with them even w/o being a l`Cie anymore. 15:41, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

HJO in FFXIII-2?[edit source]

While watching the new trailer, my heart was beating harder than before, but that's a story for another day. Also, I recognized Noel's English voice, I don't know who it is, but it sounded almost like Haley Joel Osmund, the same actor that did Sora from Kingdom Hearts. This is still speculation, so I can't wait for the information on the actors, this is exciting. Werehog 1:39 AM 6/7/2011 (UTC)

I dont think its Haley Joel Osmund. I mean, Noel's voice seems...low. Sora's voice isnt like that...:) 11:28, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

It's OSMENT, guys, not Osmund. HarpieSiren 15:10, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Watching the trailer again, Noel sounds a LOT like James Arnold Taylor to me.HarpieSiren 05:33, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

In my opinion, Noel may be voiced by Sam Riegel who voiced Edward in FFIV and Viral of Gurren Legann. 04:44, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

mmmmmm I thought he sounded like Jason Marsden, you know the guy who was Haku in Spirited Away and Chase Young in Xiaolin Showdown! :) 13:12, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

I'm certain he's Jason. I can hear all of his other voices in Noel. And I think Kari Wahlgren plays Alyssa. Koharu Nami 17:25, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

I'm so excited, it can be someone we recognize, or someone completely new. That's what I love about voice acting, you could sound like ANYONE if you work hard at disguising how you sound. I'm also excited about the DLC that's in production for the game. Werehog 12:48 AM 6/12/2011 (UTC)

FFXIII-2 vs FF Versus XIII[edit source]

Which game in your opinion will be better?  Finchelfanno1 (talk / contribs)|11:13 am,Jun/8/11

I don't really care about which one is going to be better, but I think unlike the rest of the population I'm more looking forward to XIII-2. Seeing "Give me Versus XIII" so many times in almost everything related to Square Enix can make anticipating that game a bit tiring. I still can't wait for either game, or any game in the FNC series. :) Koharu Nami 11:07, June 8, 2011 (UTC)
I also don't care but I'm leaning more towards FFXIII-2 because I love FFXIII, and the battle system of versus XIII looks similar to KH battle system which I'm not a big fan of it. But I'm looking forward to both the games esp. XIII-2 :)  Finchelfanno1 (talk / contribs)|11:13 am,Jun/8/11

5 Years Gap[edit source]

Thing is though - they've stated that the purges started 5 years ago. Its not been said outright that XIII-2 is 5 years later (people are just jumping to conclusions based on that statement). I always had the impression that the purges had been going on for a while in other areas before it hit Bodlum and started the events of XIII. Before that the statement of 5 years ago, i'm sure there was something suggesting a 1-2 year gap, which sounds a little more likely to me. Also, Clarent - i might be wrong... but your comment on changing clouds hairstyle i think is coincidence considering the transfer from polygons to CGI rather than a showing of the passage of time. Balthierfan 14:31, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

I've read something about showing the passage of time using his hairstyle on his page... I dunno. *shrug* Clarent  (talk/ contribs) 22:22, June 10, 2011 (UTC)
Wouldn't it be cool if they were time traveling? As you can see in this video that Serrah and Noel come through some kind of portal. So they could be time traveling.  Finchelfanno1 (talk / contribs)|02:43 pm,Jun/10/11
I think the portal is between Pulse and (the ruins of) Cocoon, rather than time travelling. Then again you have to ask how Lightning got into the world/place she is in (after all, one theory is that she is in another time rather another place). Balthierfan 15:01, June 10, 2011 (UTC)
Agreed there's a possibility. And one more question isn't Gran Pulse supposed to be below Cocoon but why did they point upwards when they saw Pulse?  Finchelfanno1 (talk / contribs)|03:18 pm,Jun/10/11
Well, to play with the notion brought by the FNC's mythos, Lightning could be in the Invisible Realm, the domain of Etro herself. 16:46, June 10, 2011 (UTC)
Gran Pulse is below Cocoon but Cocoon is also spherical. So if they appeared on a section of Cocoon that could be "upside down" with Pulse being above it. If that makes any sense... CWK34 20:19, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

@CWK34, actually even though Cocoon is spherical it is quite like earth right? Like rotation happens.  Finchelfanno1 (talk / contribs)|07:06 am,Jun/11/11

Cocoon is a Dyson shell; i.e. an inside out planet. And considering the ending of XIII, I doubt it'd be moving much. It's most likely that Bresha/Hanging Edge was at the top of the sphere when it fell and the two are just looking out of the giant hole in it. Time travel need not be involved. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 07:21, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
Oh that explains it, and doesn't that mean they'd see Pulse upside down?  Finchelfanno1 (talk / contribs)|07:45 am,Jun/11/11
Okay..but didn't Cocoon lose it's artificial gravity?! So how could they still stand and see Pulse like in the air?? Clarent  (talk/ contribs) 08:26, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
This is Final Fantasy, gravity doesn't have as much of a big effect as it should. If you want an in-universe solution... AMP technology should be able to work without fal'Cie, no? -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 08:40, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
You guys are forgetting that Pulse is the name of the whole world. Serah was pointing the the hole in the shell, where you can see the sky, and she said "You can see Pulse from here" she could be saying that you could see what's beyond Cocoon's shell, but not the landmass of Gran Pulse itself. Also, isn't Lake Bresha supposed to be the closest place near to Pulse, and isn't it close to Bodhum? I guess it's safe to say that Bresha is in the bottom of Coocon, not the top. 15:45, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
Pointing at the sky and saying "You can see (planet) from here" would be really awkward phrasing, as when most people think of a planet, they think of the surface, not the atmosphere. As for Bresha being the closest point to Pulse, a) I don't recall anyone saying that it was the bottom, just outer rim, which covers pretty much anywhere except Eden and b) Cocoon was still a form of planet and planets rotate and we don't know what Cocoon's axis of rotation was, so anything could potentially be in different positions as time passed (until it fell, anyway). Basically, Bresha could be anywhere close to the edge of the giant hole in Cocoon, but the sides or top seem more likely than the bottom. I wouldn't rule out the possibility though. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 00:04, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

[Gran] Pulse Fal'Cie[edit source]

What ever happened to the Fal'Cie on Gran Pulse? There can't have been five of these 'Gods' to the planet's name verses the "Millions" said to be on Cocoon. Lily Ford 23:30, June 11, 2011 (UTC)

If I got you correctly you are referring to Lindzei etc. The Fal'Cie are like their children in a sense ,so they are the third set of deities in a sense. First two gods - Guy and his deAD Mom (remind me of names) and then Pulse,Lindzei, and Etro, then the various Fal'Cie. I compare it to shinto where there are "heavenly" gods and the gods on the earth. The Fal'Cie are kind of the earthly gods, some are more humanoid than others. -Mooglelord=I'm the King of Wonderland, Sultan of Oz, and The Mooglelord, Mwahahahahahaha! 23:49, June 11, 2011 (UTC)

No, I was definitely talking about the Fal'Cie (I've recently read about the confuzzling nature of Lindzei and the other Gods, Pulse and Etro, and are presently digesting it all still), however, after a quick check on their wiki page, I noticed they aren't referred to as 'Gods'. I automatically dubbed them 'Gods' given their status over humankind and all (but, given that they can killed, that kinda snuffs that line of thinking). The Shinto comparison, however, makes perfect sense in their regard. Lily Ford 01:54, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

I think there will still be fal'Cie on Gran Pulse. They don't seem too bothered on what is happening on the world, just keep on doing their own thing. Anima is the only known exception, who seemed to have some kind of plan or something. I don't think the fal'Cie of Gran Pulse will play a big role in XIII-2, apart from as maybe bosses, but I doubt they have any grand plan or anything that'd be part of the story.Keltainentoukokuu 00:34, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, alrighty, then. I thought it was weird that the demo made such a big focus on "Atlas" and "Cocoon" (still wondering about that bit) and how the survivors were now inhabiting parts of Pulse and the Fal'Cie didn't at all seem at all perturbed about it (but I assume as long as they steer clear of their particular territory, they'll be no trouble from them). Lily Ford 01:54, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, wouldn't Titan be an awesome boss battle. I was hoping that would happen in the first one but it never did...AlVan 23:31, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

Snow will be in XIII-2[edit source]

Final Fantasy Network
the fallowing text is from the website.
"So, many people have been asking why Snow has yet to make an appearance in any Final Fantasy XIII-2 footage. Also it seems that Serah has found herself a boy (who is also a friend?) to adventure with in the search for her older sister Lightning. So Snow doesn’t mind this? According to Final Fantasy XIII-2 director Motomu Toriyama: he doesn’t. He remarked that Snow doesn’t have a jealous personality, and thus wouldn’t mind Serah traveling around Pulse and Cocoon with newcomer Noel Kreiss."
So snow is in the game, and he is fully aware of Serah traveling with Noel to save Lightning
Ixbran 21:08, June 14, 2011 (UTC)

YAY!!! I quite like him and found the idea of his absence weird.. Clarent  (talk/ contribs) 03:57, June 15, 2011 (UTC)
I don't like him but I agree with Clarent without him it would be weird.  Finchelfanno1 (talk / contribs)|08:53 am,Jun/16/11
I personally love Snow and am thrilled that he will indeed return. I can still endure the word hero a few more times. But it's funny to know that Serah is traveling with someone else and Snow doesn't mind it. It's still hard for me to believe Snow is so deeply hated. Then again I guess he's more enjoyable when he isn't throwing the forbidden H word around. Razordash09:02, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

Hmmm, I could be reading it wrong here, but i believe that the statement actually says that Snow wouldn't mind, not neceserilly meaning that he doesn't mind. The difference I'm seeing is that as it says he wouldn't mind it means that even if he'd died before Serah met Noel he still wouldn't mind if he was there, whereas doesn't implies that he's going to be in it and actually says he doesn't mind. I agree that it would be a bit..... odd if he wasn't in it, and i think he will be in it, but I think due to him not being seen in any trailers suggests there is more to the role of Snow in this one. Sephiroth157 16:15, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

I think the reason Snow "doesn't mind" is because he knows Serah wouldn't cheat on him. I mean, Square-Enix has been making Disney games too, so I doubt they will ever have an idea of the girl cheating on her man...unless Square was a bunch of jerks like the guys that make South Park. The recent edit on Final Fantasy XIII-2 just made me want to ask this...what is a Gogmagog? Werehog 12:46 PM 9/6/2011 (UTC)

It's one of the new monsters revealed in the PAX trailer. Gogmagog is essentially the weird Anima-like monster that appears halfway out of a portal. They're mostly seen in New Bodhum, but Noel and Serah are seen fighting a giant one when Hope saves them. User:FFfangirl 3:52 p.m., September 6, 2011

Lolz, and me too. Thanks, Koharu. Clarent talk 19:59, September 11, 2011 (UTC)

God why? Why make a sequel to a soon to disappoint game? Does Square really hate their fans that much? Just remake VI,VII, and IX and be done with it (any attempts to prove that XIII-2 will be good will be met with laughter) Annoying Ninja

So you've already played the game to completion and are able to formulate a viable opinion on how much it "disappointed" you? I think Square just registered the name and are laying ground work for a possible sequel. From what we've seen, Square has improved several aspects in XIII-2 to make it better than XIII.  Kamikaze Pardee Dissicon ff5 Gil1.png 13:23, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

Active =/= better. New games just mean less attention given to what the wiki is still lacking on its existing games-- and lots more people editing things that don't come in-line with the wiki's standards and thus will eventually get reverted. There will then be edit wars. Then we get half-finished story sections, and bits and pieces in random places while there is a complete lack of information in other areas. 18:50, July 20, 2012 (UTC)

But that's the whole spirit, that's the whole thing I love. You're gonna have to go and start your on FF site that no one else is allowed to edit to rid yourself of the nuisance of activity.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 19:00, July 20, 2012 (UTC)

Edit conflict

Activity doesn't mean bad either.

But the kind of activity that occurs when new game's get announced (and has information slowly added to the wiki) and when new game's get released (first in Japan and then everywhere else just to annoy the wiki) is not exactly the good kind of activity. Half the edits end up being counter-productive, and a good majority of the others are often people adding bits of information here and there.

Not to mention XIII is an awful game with a fan-base I don't think I'll ever understand.

It's much easier to work on a database about a dead game-series then it is about an active one. With a dead game-series you know the standards and you have a clear goal to eventually reach. New games just mean you never end up reaching that perfection for the existing coverage, and then new releases are made and the content is never fully-fleshed out for that game by the time of the next hyped-game. 19:16, July 20, 2012 (UTC)

Also XIV was already released and flopped big, FFX is already a game- a HD re-release isn't that interesting. XIII-3 is expanding an existing universe that I personally don't care about.

Versus XIII was a fresh and interesting idea, but they've axed that. Why in the feck can't they just release new games? 19:16, July 20, 2012 (UTC)

I am not so bothered about mistakes or people doing it wrong or... that's just the wiki experience. I get frustrated if I make a mistake, if it's me screwing it up, but some people seem to get really aggravated by some newbie doing something wrong. But isn't wiki a poor format for a person who finds other people doing it wrong really annoying? That's kinda expected in a "anyone can edit" environment. If it goes wrong we'll go fix it! I understand one wanting to edit info on old games, but that's the beauty of a wiki based on an old series like FF isn't it; you can either work on the old games, or on the new ones, your choice. I thought it was especially cool that the day FFXIII-2 was announced we had a totally coherent and good article on it in a matter of hours, in less than an hour maybe! That's the best part I think, that's what I wanna see happen.

I also wonder if Versus is kaput... I think it's possible. Have you seen the FFXV rumours, that its been in development for 4 years in secrecy? Rumours of course, but it doesn't sound crazy if it was true... Open world FF with a world as big as Skyrim directed by the director of FFIX and FFXII... I mean how awesome would that be. I hope they announce FFXIII-3, announce a teaser of FFXV, say something about FFX HD, and I hope Versus will appear, but if it won't I think it's a pretty telling sign. Dick move to pull it without announcement though, if that were to happen.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 19:25, July 20, 2012 (UTC)

What Toriyama Means[edit source]

Somebody who understands Japan, can be so kind so as to explain what the hell does Toriyama mean with these words (as I tried Google Translator and I couldn't make a sense, of nothing):

"Toriyama teased "With Lightning remaining in the 〇〇〇〇ル but still keeping her heart, you could say that the world of Final Fantasy XIII will be permanently 〇〇ed. I’m praying for the day to come that Lightning will surely 〇〇めてand Serah will be rewarded. Like Lightning advancing one step forward in the secret event, I think we want to take a step forward to advance our own project. From now on, I’d be happy if you could anticipate it."

Thanks. --BGMaxie 18:18, June 24, 2012 (UTC)

Toriyama is a name. AlVan 20:30, June 27, 2012 (UTC)

I know it is a name. What I mean to say, is what that guy meant with what he said during an interview regarding the after of "FF13-2". Read my post and you will see what I mean. --BGMaxie (talk) 17:26, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

"... remaining in the (crystal)..." "...Will be prmanently (changed)." "...Lightning will surely (awaken)..." That's what I translate. 20:52, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

Interesting......Thanks btw, that helps a lot. --BGMaxie (talk) 03:06, July 22, 2012 (UTC)
