+ | Yeah, it being a PSP game does hurt it a lot, especially in regards to getting SPP stuff since that's obnoxious to get normally now. I don't agree with the difficulty either, I felt like there were WAY too many OHKOs even on Officer difficulty most of the time even if you were the same level or even beyond it. When I first beat the game, I talked about how I thought the game was fine but the difficulty is kinda mean, but now that I've done all these missions, I'm not sure about the game being as fine lol. It might've been ok if there wasn't a time limit to do stuff too, but alas. I didn't really experiment much with the other characters as I could've, mostly because they just never jived with me (only Ace, Rem, and Deuce worked well for me). Nor did I really experiment with abilities as much (and didn't even notice the AG gauge until recently lol. I was like "Why aren't you throwing more Siphon Spheres, Rem!? PLEASE THROW...oh...there's the gauge that the game was talking about this entire time...".}} |

+ | I thought Eight was fun to play as, and Queen and Cater were very good. I also liked Trey and King. Supposedly Trey was really bad in the OG PSP version, so they greatly improved him for the HD. Actually even liked Machina, but felt like he should have more range. He has two long-looking sword-things, come on, why do you gotta be right next to the enemy to hit as him when Queen and Rem don't need to. Respect for making the one player character with a proper "character arc" so unlikable, too. No sarcasm, that makes it more interesting! |

I mean, I know they want you to level everyone up, but man, leveling up in this game is a chore (though not so much when you can exploit Arena to do it lol). And yeah, the missions...oh god the missions. Those should be easier now, but trying to 100% the game is a nightmare just for that alone. >_< |

Revision as of 16:50, 4 October 2021
So, been streaming this little hidden game the past week (beat it on Officer difficulty within 5 days), and started 2nd playthrough on Agito. Anyone got any good tips for this game?? Currently in chapter 3 at around level 40 with Ace (mid-30s for 2 other characters), and mostly just sticking with Ace since he's the one that takes care of literally everything for me (to the point that I'm almost about to just go solo on missions). Been trying to do Crimson Codes (did the first one, and couldn't because herp OHKOs. Not that I SHOULDN'T be surprised, it was like 25 levels higher than me) and an Expert Mission (first one available, which I managed to beat but god...), and like...I don't know, I feel like I'm missing SOMETHING with the game mechanics itself?? I know on Officer difficulty I had a hell of a time with things just OHKOing a lot (I didn't do all of the sidequests obviously, but I did what I could), and it's even worse on this difficulty. Not sure what I could be doing differently? x_x Game's not BAD, mind you, but I have...issues with it, so to say lol
Someone wrote some good breakdowns for each character in their gameplay pages, so check them out. I think you should branch out from just using Ace at least! I remember everyone but Cinque being good, and even she is good against those giant worms in Berith Desert. I think Rem is considered the best character overall, because she has the best stats and learns a Reraise ability that you can just keep using. If you have been skipping optional content, maybe your equipment is not very good? You get a lot of armor, accessories, and money to buy the good stuff from the sidequests and from Special Orders.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:27, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
Whenever I play, Ace is my most used, but after him, I tend to use Rem/Deuce the most, followed by Cinque/Machina (though they're rare because of the other 3 lol). I do feel like I don't use Rem or Deuce properly at all though. Kinda want to try Eight and Queen more as well. Not a fan of Jack or Nine though! Cinque I'm iffy on...I don't like how sloooooow she is, but she hits like a truck when she hits IIRC. Maybe I should try them out in today's stream (usually happens at 3 PM EST if you ever wanted to see it live!). A lot of the optional content I skipped was either because I didn't know about it (didn't know towns had them, and never went back to most of them) or because they were like 30-50 levels higher than me (yay Expert Trials!?). At the very least, I have Ace's Magician's Deck, but that's the only good weapon I have, everyone else has...really bad weapons lol. Accessories are really lacking too, best I got is like a HP +50% and Ballistic Resist +30% accessory >_<
Ok, so in my attempt to actually do the Tower of Agito, I'm farming SPP, which I've tried this grinding method (Easy difficulty at Reclamation of Eibon (fighitng inside Toguagh). In about an hour got about 10k SPP, but...is there a faster way than this? If I want to get Ultima, I need to get 150,000 SPP, which this particular method feels exceptionally slow...
I think there were some passive earning methods where you leave your console on and go to work or whatever and it keeps racking up SPP. I never did the Tower of Agito. I think I went to the first room and then noped out.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 17:02, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- I rubber-banded my controller to farm the SPP for Ultima; used the area in Operation Breakthrough with infinite enemies. Blizzard BOM-II, Tornado, and Meteor used by a solo Rem is a surefire way for a Tower clear.
- Expert Trials are recommended for the second playthrough, with the exception of the one in Bazz since it unlocks the cave to get the airship. With all the spare time you have after completing those free time events, you can use those second playthrough hours to knock out the trials. Mierna 17:21, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I tried to do it legit using Ace and Rem with Fire-BOM II but no dice. The Stop makes it more annoying too heh. Sadly for me, Operation Breakthrough is THE only Code Crimson mission so far I didn't do...I actually skipped it because I just couldn't beat it at all. Granted, all I had to do was lower the difficulty but I didn't think about it at the time. So I'm using Reclamation of Eibon right now and letting it do it that way while Ace gets his face pummeled in for a while. I tried Operation Demolition MA, but uh...30-45 minutes of grinding got shot down when I got insta-killed due to script and forgot about it (and it was only Ace so nobody else was around). THAT was...frustrating, to say the least. I did do all of the Expert Trials that I could (assuming I didn't miss any), so those are pretty much there. Just didn't do the big grind spot which ugh >_< I might try to grind using Queen because apparently that's a method you can do with her Magic Martyr or something??
So, after 2-3 days of grinding SPP, finally got Ultima and the SP Crystal, and fully did the Tower of Agito, and wow...that was probably the most boring thing I have ever done in any FF game aside from grinding for all equipment in FFXII or the Rainbow Pudding in FFIV DS. Like who on the team thought it was a good idea to have 5 floors of just fighting the same enemies over and over!?! Ah well, that's over with so now all that's left is Nox, whenever it decides to show up, and then finishing the game, and that'll be that. I might try to get images for this game for the wiki (if I ever do that, said I would with World of Final Fantasy, never did), though not sure what images we would need?? Anyone have a good list of what is needed in regards to that??
- Congrats! Enjoy the most uber accessory in the game, it can make soloing Finis missions a lot more fun now. ^_^ (Ah, speaking of Rainbow Pudding… even though I beat FFIV I still want to be able to get the Tails for the Onion/Adamant gear so I can at least say I did it, but that drop rate is just cruel.) Mierna 09:42, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
They added some ultimate new attire to the HD version that I never got. We got some promo screenshot of it, but maybe a proper screenshot of our own could be cool, if you got the outfit? Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 13:12, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, glad I got the SP Crystal and Ultima, but man, the Agito Insignia is really going to help if I ever get around to Finis difficulty (probably won't stream that because no point lol). Lemme tell you how annoyed I was when I got to 75 Tonberries defeated and then died because I guess Avoid doesn't work when charging spells or it isn't guaranteed?? I don't know what happened, but Rem got knifed and that was the end of the first run lol... Ooooh!! I think I can actually get the Formal Attires now since I am on Chapter 7 Part 2 (well, I'd kinda have to be if I just got the Setzer lol). The Resplendat Garb is going to be a thing, that's for sure. Maybe I should save all of this for Platinum Sundays if I ever do that again. Sounds like it'll be a pain to do all the missions (especially since I think I have to go back and get the first Crimson Code mission anyways so boooooo!!!). Oh right, you reminded me of the Tails that I never bothered with lol. I also remember getting the Pink Tail only once in vanilla FFIV, and never again....never...again....T-T
