I have created this thread to discuss how we are going to go about re-establishing our (FFWiki's) Facebook page and Twitter feed. Hopefully, once we have decided how it is going to run, we will trial it out for a month or two, and if it is popular we will use it as a means of both notifying our userbase on developments Final Fantasy and the wiki, and also use it to possibly help introduce new people to this site. The ideas already mentions from the Quiz Question Thread are as follows. We could update whenever the Featured Article, Featured Image and the DNC changes. We could also update whenever there is a update on Shinra News, tweet about birthdays for characters and Final Fantasy staff and maybe even post some interesting trivia tidbits every so often. - I'm not entirely keen on notifying people on character birthdays as only very few characters actually have birthdays set in real world calendar (I think that only PS1 era has them, and Tactics series). Aside of that, these are good suggestions; there's nothing more to add, I think.—Kaimi >♂

Sounds like it'd run much like the main page here then. But an advance notification elsewhere is always useful, particularly for people who prefer links rather than going from site to site manually. I particularly like the idea of birthdays (we have a birthday today, by the way!). It fits in with trivia, which people like. Tia-Lewise

Another thing we could have would be like tweets to do with the day... like HP Wiki just had there something for Father's Day. Like...today is the cherry blossom festival day in Japan, did you know that many attacks in the Final Fantasy series refer to this event, including Lightning's Zantetsuken and Yojimbo's Zanmato? Or you know, something better. Or "celebrating" games' 10 year anniversaries.

I agree with using the social media to inform the public of DNC updates, Shinra News stories, as well as the FA and FI.
Maybe for the quiz idea would could have a random FF question a day? Or maybe put in a new Did You Know…? every day? Other random events (wiki treasure hunt sounded amazing) might help boost readership and keep people interested in the social media. I think we should try and offer something new in the social media that the main page doesn't offer; if the Facebook/Twitter were exactly the same as the main page updates, there wouldn't be much incentive to check the social media pages. - Scathe, there's a reason I have "liked" 50 or so musicians on Facebook. It means I only have to go to one place to receive updates instead of each of their websites individually every second of every day. Instead I only have to be on one website every second of every day.
- If we give all the updates to Facebook and Twitter it will help people who don't visit the FFWiki front page regularly and it will still drive in more traffic.
- I am against any sort of "additional things" to social media. The wiki is a large website. It is both a wiki and a fan-site. Twitter and Facebook just allow us to branch out more easily to more people, there is nothing we can do on those sites that we can't do here. Why do work for things that are only seen by those who are a part of social networks when there are regular users on the wiki who are not subscribed to the page on the social network? 79.69.204.201 12:46, June 19, 2012 (UTC)
- I like the quiz idea as well. I also partially agree with JBed in that everything we post or tweet about on the social media sites should be on the wiki in some way. Having said that the beauty of twitter and Facebook means that we can be a lot more interactive and informal than we are on the wiki. For example we can retweet anything interesting said by, say Square Enix, And we can have the quizzes and the like which would otherwise be out of place on the wiki. Also on Facebook we can encourage readers to say what they think about news and games on the wall, something which is a bit more difficult than on the wiki. Build up a good Facebook and Twitter community like that and it will be just as bustling as the wiki itself.
- Also, for the quiz idea, we can encourage followers to PM their own questions to @FFWiki and we can choose the best each day to put forward. We can then encourage the twitterachi to find the answer on the wiki and tweet their answer back. First to answer correctly gets a mention. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 19:42, June 19, 2012 (UTC)

- I also cannot see it, although in my case it is likely because of NoScript and custom AdBlock filters. In terms of the FB idea, although I dislike Facebook in general, I agree with the presence of the 'Like' buttons. I do not, however, like the idea of FB recommendations and I strongly oppose the introduction of FB comments.
