I have created this thread to discuss how we are going to go about re-establishing our (FFWiki's) Facebook page and Twitter feed. Hopefully, once we have decided how it is going to run, we will trial it out for a month or two, and if it is popular we will use it as a means of both notifying our userbase on developments Final Fantasy and the wiki, and also use it to possibly help introduce new people to this site. Checklist
- Obtain the password for the Facebook and Twitter accounts.
- Discuss how we are going to use Facebook and Twitter.
- Decide on who will update Facebook and Twitter.
- Decide on a few rules and regulations.
- Discuss what the Facebook and Twitter pages would look like.
Point #1 Discussion
- Obtain the password for the Facebook and Twitter accounts
We think Bluer has it. Hopefully he would be kind enough to supply it to one of us. If not, we can always create a brand new page/twitter account. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 19:35, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
- Good to see us going over to social network platform. Unfortunately, I am not responsible for the Facebook account. As for Twitter, if there's community consensus and someone's ready to handle the responsibility for it, just reach me over the talk page. BLUER一番 00:52, June 19, 2012 (UTC)
Point #2 Discussion
- Discuss how we are going to use Facebook and Twitter
The ideas already mentions from the Quiz Question Thread are as follows. We could update whenever the Featured Article, Featured Image and the DNC changes. We could also update whenever there is a update on Shinra News, tweet about birthdays for characters and Final Fantasy staff and maybe even post some interesting trivia tidbits every so often. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 19:35, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not entirely keen on notifying people on character birthdays as only very few characters actually have birthdays set in real world calendar (I think that only PS1 era has them, and Tactics series). Aside of that, these are good suggestions; there's nothing more to add, I think.—Kaimi >♂ - - - 19:50, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
Sounds like it'd run much like the main page here then. But an advance notification elsewhere is always useful, particularly for people who prefer links rather than going from site to site manually. I particularly like the idea of birthdays (we have a birthday today, by the way!). It fits in with trivia, which people like. - This whole matter originate because of Kelt's comment on the Quiz Question thread about how we could use Twitter to have a quiz all our own. Are we still going through with that?C A T U S E 19:49, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
I oppose birthdays to the max! 79.69.196.169 19:46, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
I never said I wanted user birthdays, I was just whoring the fact that it's DSS's birthday. Tia-Lewise 19:51, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
Another thing we could have would be like tweets to do with the day... like HP Wiki just had there something for Father's Day. Like...today is the cherry blossom festival day in Japan, did you know that many attacks in the Final Fantasy series refer to this event, including Lightning's Zantetsuken and Yojimbo's Zanmato? Or you know, something better. Or "celebrating" games' 10 year anniversaries.
I still like the quiz idea too.Keltainentoukokuu 23:12, June 18, 2012 (UTC)

Social Plugins
Help:Feeds#Facebook_Social_Plugins. Wikia planned for this and allows us to implement these features right into our pages. I don't like it much (mostly because if we have a comments box it'll probably just get flooded with nonsense), however, just throwing that out there. Here's what they look like:C A T U S E 19:49, June 18, 2012 (UTC)

How strange, they aren't coming up anymore. Anybody else get this problem?C A T U S E 20:31, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe you need a facebook session. I'm logged in and I can see it clearly. - Henryacores^ 22:21, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
- I can see it fine, but don't have an account. And I can see that Tia's already testing it out.
- I have to agree with Cat really, there are better ways of implementing social networking without opening the floodgates to inanity. We could keep the likes and recommendations though. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 22:44, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
- We used to have Facebook likes. I seem to recall Lightning's page had thousands of likes! But then one day they were gone.Keltainentoukokuu 23:06, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
