With the impending rebirth of Final Fantasy XIV, many of the pages will be outdated. Though they are obsolete as guides, they document the original release's content and serve to keep people informed about this era in Eorzea's history. With the sweeping changes made to the realm, it is necessary to make all new pages for the wiki. This forum is meant to discuss what labels to use to differentiate between the old and new versions of each subject. Yrusama (talk) 06:26, December 22, 2012 (UTC)

I've been away from the wiki for a while so I'm not sure what ideas you all have come up with. I was thinking something like "Black Shroud (Pre-ARR)" and "Black Shroud" for old and new respectively. Yrusama (talk) 06:26, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
Tags aren't really the most suitable for this, and even if they were, using (Pre-ARR) really doesn't fit with how we tag pages. Best thing would probably be to make subpages with a name like, to use your example, "Black Shroud/Archive" or something similar. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 08:00, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
It would be much easier to subpage/tag by "A Realm Reborn", but that's not practical. So we could subpage at "1.0", "Original". I'm not too fond of Archive since it gives more of the impression that it's our archive rather than content based on a version past, but I'd ride with it. 12:33, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
I think something like Black Shroud/Legacy would work best. There's no official term for pre ARR FFXIV, but the Legacy campaign applies only to pre-ARR so its quite a good term to use to refer to that era of XIV. also, the meaning of the world fits perfectly--Arciel Spira (talk) 17:13, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
I support "Legacy". 17:17, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
Fine by me. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 23:05, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
Also may be a good idea to make a template to say "For the pre-A Realm Reborn version of this {{1}}, see page/legacy" or something of the sort, if it's a common thing (and I suspect it will be), I dunno. Jimcloud 23:10, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
A parameter seems unnecessary, just "version of this", or "version", would do. 23:19, December 22, 2012 (UTC)

Done. Used like so:
{{For legacy}}

I would personally have it say "click here" instead of "see [pagename]". Like we do with summon sequences. I think it looks better when dealing with subpages. 23:39, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
Clearly you all have been at this longer than I have XD. "click here" seems to be more common and looks cleaner. "For the Legacy version of this article, click here". Yrusama (talk) 00:44, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
YAY! can't wait! considering how cool gridania+black shroud has become.. having a Legacy reference to see what it used to be like is interesting :D --Arciel Spira (talk) 04:10, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
That said, areas like the Black Shroud have gone from zones to becoming regions.. so we'll be seeing the equivalent of stuff in the current Black Shroud page in like Central Shroud, South Shroud, North Shroud etc, which wouldn't require the Pre-ARR tag imo, since they're zone classifications that never existed in legacy.--Arciel Spira (talk) 04:16, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
