Ok, so I am very new to the fandom. Favourite game is FFX, but huge fan of FFVII too.
I just randomly had this theory... tell me if it's been said, proved wrong, or whatever:
Putting the facts / rumors together FFVII has the theory surrounding the timeline that it is many years after the story of FFX and FFX-2.
FFX and FFX-2 got a HD remaster for it's tenth anniversary.
FFVII remastered has been confirmed to have a different title than "FFVII REMASTERED" etc.
My Thoery: If FFX and FFX-2's world Spira concludes it's epic and beautiful tale with the build up that truly is the large organisation that is later known as Shinra in FFVII, the two final fantasy stories are linked. So, what if the FFVII remake will actually involve a more in depth description of this story upon release, in the suggested two years time from now, i.e. 2017ish.
Also, if XV has just released a demo, it can be assumed that FFXVI can be expected around next year inline with the usual game publishing schedules.
WHICH PERHAPS MEANS THAT:
The FFVII remake will be the next in like, and if so it will be numbered "FFXVII", which could be argued as FFX + VII. So, are Square Enix planning to release the hybrid of the next addition to the FFX / FFX-2 saga, as well as the remake to FFVII? If so it would be a perfect chance to as they are coming up to their "FFXVII" numbered game anyway. If so, YAAAAY I worked it out :D haha Or, is this super obvious and already well known in the fandom. Comments please.

- Really, Final Fantasy 17? I know there's this theory going around that all the Final Fantasy games take place in the same universe, but this is going too far. This isn't like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or the Expanded Universes of Halo and Star Wars where literally every single thing that happens in them also happened, like a thousand years ago.
