So I found a viewer for the field locations in FFIX. As far as I know, the wiki doesn't have any.
Like with battlegrounds, I do not have the time nor will to add them all to the articles.
And in this case files will have to be moved because they'll be given names that won't make sense ("0 1-d1-ffix.png" can be an expected title). And FFIX is a four-disc game and therefore each disc holds different field locations. And the file names I have to go on are just numbers.
This is just a heads up so you know the wiki will be flooded with a couple thousand images from IX that will have to be renamed and added to articles. There will also likely be duplicates (since there are multiple discs and I may forget), and some images may look weird and may need to be cropped to go in articles (like the telescope, I can't fiddle with layers like I can for VII and VIII, therefore moving things like with the telescope cannot be avoided).
This may seem evil, especially since the FFIX battle backgrounds IDing thing is still going on, but the wiki needs the images. And I am still working on the VII project, and still have an VIII project to do before I can concentrate on IX, and that's ignoring the fact I simply have other things to do like college and not-wiki.
As with most projects I'll upload in bulk. Which probably means I'll have a considerable amount of files to upload tomorrow. JBed 22:39, June 7, 2012 (UTC)
- Are you gonna make a gallery of them here? So that, y'know, we can have 'em all in one place to make them easier to ID and move? And just how many is "a couple thousand"? o_0C A T U S E 00:39, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
- Catuse, a couple thousand is 2000. Although I think it might be closer to 1000 looking at the numbers (the first disk has 249, and bear in mind the other disks hold repeats... maybe less?)
- I won't be adding the gallery here since every time a file is moved they will have to be re-linked here which is additional unnecessary work and edits for users.
- Although thinking about it, it would be easier since non-mods won't be able to do much, except use the file's talk pages to ID them. Why is moving files considered more disruptive than moving other pages? I'm not asking that regular users get suppressing powers, but why can't they just move the files?
- All the files will end up in Category:Final Fantasy IX Location Images. Their original filenames will be numerical, so they'll appear at the top of the category. JBed 16:25, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
- It's disruptive because (I think) you can't redirect files. Meaning that if somebody moves a file that's on 30+ pages (and there are such things, usually caused by talk bubbles or people putting it in their userpages because it looks "cool", stuff is pretty messed up.C A T U S E 16:41, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
- Files still redirect in the same way (IIRC). Linking to a file redirect will still display the original file. Therefore it's the same as moving articles. JBed 17:09, June 8, 2012 (UTC)

Done Disk 1's images. [-]. Unfortunately they don't appear right at the top... apparently files which specify placement in the pipe take precedence (which I don't understand because that's not the point in the pipe).
Will probably do Disk 2's (and possibly D3's) tonight, upload them tomorrow. JBed 19:40, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
I got the images for D2, 3, and 4 last night, and used a duplicate-image software to help prevent me uploading duplicates. A few points:
- I will upload them later, which probably means tomorrow.
- I got the "Lindblum" or "Lindblum Castle" (can't remember which one) title-image without the title (that has text in the top-left). Since I've uploaded all the other images with the title-text on, I don't want to upload over that one because it kills consistency, but I'm going to upload the non-text one anyway.
- I'm going to withhold from uploading Memoria and related's images because I'll ID them and add them to the article myself.
- Lots of Alexandria (night, destruction) and Lindblum (destruction) maps to upload!
- Also:
When sorting the files I made a mistake. And that mistake was I accidentally tried to put D2's files in with D4's. And then I did the same with D3's. When extracting the files they all have non-disk-referencing names, so therefore there was common file-names for one disk to the next, however it still means I added lots of D2 and D3 files to the D4 folder.
In short, now I have labelled many fields originally found on D2 and D3 as D4. This also means that half of the images in a location could be labelled as D2, while the other half will only be labelled as D4 (and thus uploaded later). This would be particularly annoying for someone who wanted to go through the files in series and sort out all the files from a location at a specific time. Sorry JC ;D JBed 20:27, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
- You're just lucky I'm not anywhere within a practical physical distance from you. There would be punching. Jimcloud 20:33, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
All right, now, there are a grand total of 2(TWO!!!!!) images left that I have not identified.
Now, the first is obviously the Public Seats of Alexandria, but this image is unidentifiable because I never see the audience looking like that and frankly it's scary as can be. Now, for the other, I beliiiieve it's the scene of Brahne's Death, but I'm not completely sure on that one. Can anyone get confirmation? Jimcloud 22:58, June 17, 2012 (UTC)
- Brahne dies. Also if you didn't identify the sky background, it's used in an earlier scene with Kuja on the dragon.
- As for the first one, I assumed you can re-visit at some time maybe. Yes it is freaky. 79.69.204.48 23:04, June 17, 2012 (UTC)
- I had identified the sky background, yes. Thanks for the thought, though. You can revisit the Public Seats like three times, actually. I assume this is probably the one where you revisit it as Steiner while chasing Garnet, but I have no idea and it's not really useful as is either way. Jimcloud 23:09, June 17, 2012 (UTC)
