Hi all, I think the Final Fantasy Wiki would make a lot of sense for early UCP migration. We use very few MediaWiki extensions, and don't use things like Message Wall/Special:Forum, so I think we would be a good fit. Our only real needs would be custom CSS, and to an extent custom JS, but I think we would greatly benefit from the MediaWiki upgrade, with regards to features such as Lua Modules having documentation pages and the ability to use "class" in files.
I'm not the most savvy person in terms of what keeps the Wiki running under the good, generally my opinions are focused on "does it work for me personally and does it work for viewers who visit the site". Techno knows his stuff and I've no reason to doubt his judgment in that the move would be minimally disruptive for us, so if we can make it happen and folks can keep on their merry way editing and browsing, let's do it. Yesssssss. There have been for a while a couple of problems which we've only been able to respond "wait for UCP" so I'm all for finally getting a chance to try and fix things up. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 21:52, June 16, 2020 (UTC)
Code-wise it makes things easier and.or simpler, I presume? I'm no technician, so my main "concern" is if the migration will change things aesthetically, as in if the general display of the Wiki will be somewhat drastic, like few years back when Wikia moved from the Monobook to Oasis skin which made things visually different. Similarly to Drakey, if it works for the benefit of FFWiki I'm for it.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 22:18, June 16, 2020 (UTC)
- This initial migration won't change things aesthetically. This is phase 1 migration, which only changes things on the back-end and updates to the latest MediaWiki version. Phase 2, later in the year, will be an aesthetic change, and there will be a separate thread on that, though.-- Technobliterator TC 22:46, June 16, 2020 (UTC)
As of this update on May 26, custom JS isn't even supported at all, and neither is global user JS. I would imagine those are absolutely required before migrating the wiki. I'm also not clear on whether they're planning on forcing this style of forum to convert to Discussions as well. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 22:57, June 16, 2020 (UTC)
