I have been searching and searching, but I can not find a non-auction copy of Final Fantasy VII for under $50. WHY? The game is ten years old and for a console obsolete by two generations! SilverDragon28 02:33, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Because it is still enormously popular and everyone wants it, so the people who already have it keep their own copies, forcing supply down, and with demand up, that equals hella $$$. It's simple economics really. --Mymindislost 02:35, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Good luck finding anything under $75. I got my copy from a hole-in-the-wall store in northern Oahu for upwards of 80 bucks. 8bit 02:37, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
America sounds like an odd place, I got my copy of FFVII for £10. Then again, I found a copy of the original Star Ocean 2 two days ago for £55, so I guess that balances things out. :/ Diablocon 12:38, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Because its the most popular game in the series and has been out of production for years now. Supply and Demand will not work to your favor here. Hate Adam Smith or better Square Enix for dragging their ass on any kind of remake or release. --BlueHighwind 13:08, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

i got my copy from a bargain bin at kb toys for 15 bucks. lucky dayTrio1000 15:54, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Although I already have a copy, I found one in a store for $19.99, and was in perfect shape. The place never really prices games on popularity or demand. =/ My copy was given to me in horrible shape, and a really should've got it. The best price that I can see has a £29.93 pricetag, When I got mine a year ago it was only 15 quid so they have become more expensive. Jeppo 23:04, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
  1. Its immensely popular
  2. Its only a matter of time until SE starts up a remake (hopefully VIII as well) and...
  3. What is a "Quid" must have something to do with the pound. And i thought you lot went over to the Euro a while back

that should do Exdeath64 23:28, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Ah, I momentarily forgot that I may be talking to people who are not familiar to British slang. Yes, A 'quid' is slang for a pound, and we have never been on the Euro, nor we hopefully ever will. But this is not the place for me to discuss my hatred for Brussels. Jeppo 23:37, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
If we change to the Euro, i'm moving....Terra_Homing

Thanks for the info. There probably will be a remake at some point, considering the popularity of the game and Square Enix's history. SilverDragon28 20:25, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Most of the games I have for the PSone were bootleg Asian copies (seeing that nothing is ever genuine in the Philippines)...so that means all the Final Fantasy games I have for the PSone is an illegal copy. Disadvantages of this include choppy gameplay, shorter lifespan of CD, and screwed up cutscenes...Otherwise, an FFVII remake in the future would be great, however that would mean emphasizing the Final Fantasy Stereotype to the general audience...which I don't want to go further because I'd probably be going on and on about it... Real nice, BfD. Anyway, I tried to look for it on eBay with my dad, and we found a black-labelled one that was shrinkwrapped. We didn't buy it because it cost...you better sit down...$500!!! I've never seen a game that was that expensive. Was it really that popular back in 1997? (Kidding. I know the answer to that.) BlueLionheart Cloudy Wolf (T/C) 23:54, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
That's so strange, i only bought FF7 about two years ago and i got it for £20.00, maybe it's because it's the pal version or something? Terra_Homing
Oh wait! I just remembered, there was this collector's shop where I bought some trading cards once and the guy was selling mint condition Greatest Hits titles of Anthology, VII, VIII, and IX for $50CDN each! Too bad I didn't have enough money at the time to buy VIII...maybe if I did, that would be my first legal FF copy for the PSone Chocolancer 00:22, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Weird, I bought mine last year from Finnish internet store, and it was only 30€. And it was new, inside plastic wrap. I think they also have/at least had VIII and IX too. Kupuntu 08:44, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

This isn't too encouraging. The only place I've really looked is Amazon.com, where a used copy is about $75 and a new copy is around $170. Not too bad as compared to some other horror stories above. Anyways, at this rate, it's either I get a better job, or I hope for a remake someday. (Chances are I'll have to buy a PS3 if that happenned though. Dammit.) - DeadlySlashSword 02:05, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Well the best we can hope for is that Sony gets their finger out of their backside and put FFVII available to download on the PSStore like they have been doing for other PS1 games. Jeppo 02:45, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

I was lucky. I got the game from Wal-Mart after all of the original hype, and before all of the new hype. As a result, it only cost me 7 dollars. No, I did not miss a zero. It was their last copy, too. Thing is, the data's screwed up or been lost more times than I can count, and now 2 of the 3 discs don't even work.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to sign my name, earlier....Neo Bahamut 05:53, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
