Ok people, I'm bringing up a topic to be discussed regarding the handling of Trial pages. Here is the thing (as it can be found here http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:BGMaxie#FFBE_Trials) I was discussing with Kaimi and we thought we should bring it here. Thing is Kaimi (not sure what's your gender sorry) disagrees the way I've been handling Trial Pages, which is basically "(Insert Trial Name) Page" for several Trials (not all as I've not worked all of them). Instead Kaimi prefers the "usual" way, i.e. making different Boss pages for each one and follow that route (I mean bosses are basically all that is to be known about Trials) and in line with the policies.

While there is reason to that, I do think we should leave it the way I've been doing it, as in one page per Trial and add all the necessary info into that page (that includes Boss patterns, strategies, stats/templates). The reason I say this, is because otherwise we're gonna be really really bloated with Boss pages. A lot of Trials have more than one enemy to phase, in particular those like Parade of the Possessed and Surging Menace have as many as Nine Rounds and in the former you have several Bosses that also double as Story Bosses, so making that many pages is just begging to make things confusing and complicated. Specially so in the case of some Trials like Beasts of the Dark or The Octopus Teacher where you face two Bosses at once. Making different pages for each one will either dilute info and check both at the same time to get the "full picture" or just be unnecessarily repetitive.

As I've done so far is basically "The (insert name) is a Trial in BE." followed by "Battle" (then in subsections for each Boss in the same page, this is important as there are usually patterns associated that are best to have in the same place) and "Strategy".

Mind you I take info from the Exviuswiki mainly since data-mining is found there. However the reason I bother to actually write pages in here despite the aforementioned wiki is that they barely give any cohesive and descriptive strategy. Usually they give a general idea of what they do and some tips to watch out, but not really a consolidated plan to trounce them save for links to Youtube videos that tend to be filled with Elite/Whale teams. In other words, their information is useful but somewhat shallow and insufficient.

The one issue I find with dividing content across many Boss pages is that said strategy that I bother with would end up fragmented or messy and would beat the purpose of writing things here to try to put some Added Value to the work done by the Exviuswiki.

In light of all of this, I for one propose to utilize my methodology for this kind of content, to keep it all concentrated in a single, but tidy and detailed page with everything for the player to know what to do. It makes things more efficient in my opinion.

That's it. --BGMaxie (talk) 23:48, July 11, 2017 (UTC)

Sometimes we cover enemies together where they are relevant rather than giving them individual pages like with Dissidia: Light to All/Chapter 1.
I think we should have both boss pages covering the enemy and the Trials pages. The Trials pages are going to be the easiest place to cover battles in general: Especially for the double bosses as you mention. So that's where strategy should go, while the enemy pages are mainly for simple documentation of the enemy and things like the enemy's entry in the game's logs, and to link to the Trials in which they are fought.
Covering them on both pages would be on the condition that we were using Data modules for easier modifying and more automated distribution of data. If we're not doing that then it would be easier to just cover them on Trials pages. JBed (talk) 00:24, July 12, 2017 (UTC)
I thought the Trials pages you had been creating were good. They are like guides, which I think is a good kind of content even if some may think it is not encyclopedic enough...Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 09:20, July 12, 2017 (UTC)
Ok so, so far all in agreement that it should be left as I was doing. The proposition of Boss Pages mostly for stat/documentation purposes is neat, although I'd suggest having them in the Trial Pages for simplicity (only reason I haven't bothered with that is that I have small experience with Templates even more so how the FFBE one looks like). Anything else that anybody would like to add? Cuz otherwise, we should just go forward. --BGMaxie (talk) 18:17, July 13, 2017 (UTC)
