I remember hearing about this in another forum and decided to expand upon it.
To encourage main-space editing, community, user-interaction blah blah blah, I was thinking we could try a reward system. For a while, we seemed to reward users by giving them rollback, and many users seem to have their own custom award templates. I've prepared a sandbox showcasing a few potential ideas for award templates. Really, if we start to recognize users who make good mainspace edits and thank them for their work, we can encourage them to keep working and hopefully attract a few other users to edit more often. Anyway, there's my proposal, my experimental templates. What do you guys think? For now also, I'm using the FF3 Luneth character images, but depending on what sort of titles we give we these awards that would likely have to change. I do strongly suggest we keep the awards named after Job Classes though.
Originally an idea given to me by Yuan, but meh...the templates look pretty good!
Sounds like a good idea in theory.... On the wiki I'm currently head bureaucrat of, before I was even a titled user... I became a BCrat+SysOp for reverting two vandalism strikes. Since then there has been no one recognised for anything they've done. A small wiki like mine, I can't even be bothered to award users.
That poorly constructed paragraph which seems to make no sense is trying to say that "Will admin's care?". Originally there were "titled users", then when rollback came along all but two of the titled users were given rollback. Since then CSM has awarded these users with rollback. CSM's reign of terror has since gone... but my point still is that will admin's care about such a system? Will they notice user's edits?
There are users here who give out awards, but it's a bit different. Being given it be another user isn't as official as been given it by an admin. How many of our admin's use this method of awarding? None.
There is always the belief that "an admin doesn't have to do it", but then that reduces the worth of such a template. Being given it by a random user is less fulfilling than being given an unofficial usermade mark of appreciation.

EDIT CONFLICTx4:I like it as well. I would suggest using FFV Job sprites instead, because, although smaller in size, they're bigger in numbers. I also think that we should divide these awards in more categories, such as: Image Uploading, Maintenance, Article Creation (maybe we could divide this one into stuff like Enemy articles, Equipment articles, Character articles, etc). @ILHI: I totally agree. Maybe we should discuss the granting of these awards (Someone's thinking of using the community portal...).

The only award I've ever wanted is a seat on the Staff Page, and I already have it. Do whatever you like. Personally I prefer to give out awards then receive them.

I like them. I think that only staff should give them out. It stops people just copy/pasting to their own talkpage.
I would agree with only the Staff giving them. As for Admins caring, ILHI, well no they likely wouldn't, but the awards would still come from the staff. And I'm sure the recipient would care that their work has been noticed and someone has taken the time to thank them.
I had considered the FFV sprites, they do have a much larger variety of Jobs to pull from. The problem is that, AFAIK, the only job sprites for V we have are the group sprites. I'd prefer to use individual sprites if possible.

Can't do nothing about them. Those are directly ripped from the Dissidia gallery.
Damn....if we could upload them without the backgrounds, they'd be perfect though.

I'll do it after we get the green light for this project. I obviously have the images, so it's just a fast change. Also, these lack the Advance jobs, so I'll do one for each too.

hm.. by that, do you mean there'll be award template for each job? O.o
No, but a larger job pool means we can be more flexible in creating templates to fit a job.

How far will this go until one losses any care for such trivial acts? And how does such merits be measured? What I would like to see is that this wiki creates a set of awards, they would be a standard set, and one can give them whenever they want to. The only catch is that only the boss admins would be in charge of creating, maintaining and setting the awards. In that way, it will not be seen as if a boss admin has some sort of bias at or against a user. Brilliance, no >;3
