Every top-level command gets a page, and every skillset (per appearance) gets a page. But at the time we weren't considering FFXII with its "Magick & Technicks" and "Mist" 'skillsets'.

There are three types of commands, Command->Ability (command always leads to performing ability), Command->Window (skillset, command opens up more commands), and the other which is not pertinent.

So

  • Attack (Command->Ability)
  • Magicks & Technicks (Command->Window)
    • White Magicks (Command->Window)
      • Cure (Command->Ability)

We were thinking skillsets should have their own articles because we need somewhere to list their abilities. Can we still say that is true for a skillset containing only skillsets? Unlike with a skillset of Command->Ability commands, the ability information can be described; but with a skillset of Command->Window commands there is nothing more to say than "Opens X skillset menu" and link to the Skillset page.

Well there will always be a purpose unless the information is displayed elsewhere. But if we were to create a page for "Magicks & Technicks", then all the information that is going to go on it is here: List of Final Fantasy XII Abilities#Magicks & Technicks.

So we could copy that, and in doing so duplicating the scope of XIICmds, or we could split that, in doing so narrowing the scope of XIICmds. But this seems needless. The page works fine as it is. The only reason we might is because of the TLC/skillset policy.

So we either split that content, or we add a clause to the policy clarifying that a skillset containing skillsets can be covered at the game's List of Commands page.

In other words, all Command->Window commands are to be mentioned on the Commands page even if they aren't a TLC. Command->Window commands that only contain Command->Window commands to not need their own article.

I hope that was comprehensible. 89.243.247.210 16:15, January 24, 2015 (UTC)

Lost of our policy doesn't seem to account for FFXII (Items, I'm looking at you). Mist (Command) and Magicks & Technicks could just be parent pages. Mist (Command) has more reason for existing given that the two Mist abilities share stuff in common with the Mist charges stuff. One could use Magicks & Technicks to list the types of magicks and the technicks and what they do. Content from List of Final Fantasy XII Magicks can be moved there. Then again, I do not know if anyone will ever search for "Magicks & Technicks". But the game considers is a subject and groups them together...
If we go by my suggestions then nothing would really change about the policy though.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 16:23, January 24, 2015 (UTC)
