It may be too early to judge right now, but this is something we must consider and discuss sooner or later. Given the apparent great deal of storyline in the game, coupled with the fighting style of each character, their costumes, abilities, character, etc...should we perhaps, sometime, create alternate versions of the character pages for Dissidia, like say, "Cloud Strife (Dissidia)", or "Garland (Dissidia)"?
I honestly think it should be done - once we have more information than what we have now in the Dissidia subsections. When we can fill in the major details about story, fighting techniques, etc, I think alternate pages shall be in order.

I think this is a resonable idea Drake, However its a touch to early to start we need to wait until the game hits America i think
I'm in the middle of writing a guide for it. Once I get character movesets uploaded, feel free to draw from it. In the meantime, I'll do what I can to help expand those articles--assuming they get made.

I'm with Drake on this one. You should've seen one of his sandboxes that contains a Dissidia character infobox.

This is a terrible idea. At the moment, even Cloud's article is not too massive that it cannot hold any more material. In fact, I doubt you'll more than a dozen such articles on the wiki. These are all the same characters. Its not a different Cloud in Dissidia. Its not a different Squall in Dissidia. Making a new "Cloud Strife (Dissidia)" page would then necessitate moving Cloud Strife to "Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII)" which is such an incredibly awful and silly idea that I want to hurt somebody. We're not making two articles for the same thing. There's room. The only time I've seen problems loading pages is with User Pages that have too many Youtube videos. And its not like we've divided up any other page for appearances outside the main game. Cloud is playable in FFT. I don't see any "Cloud (Final Fantasy Tactics)" pages. Vincent is playable in Dirge of Cerberus. Should that be divided too? I hardly see how Dissidia is in any way special. Also I have to say that I'm annoyed that all the editing Drake mentions will have to go on without the majority of us because Dissidia is not out in the United States and won't be for another life time.
I have to admit I agree with Blue. It's the same character, so splitting is fairly useless. 'Bout Cloud for instance, it makes more sense to split Cloud(FFVII and Compilation and Dissidia) and Cloud(Tactics) and Cloud (KH), for instance. But it would indeed be useful to make some article to summarize the dissidia-relative info. Kinda sub-articles. But it would be more useful to make a page like "Fighting Styles (Dissidia) or something like that : it respects this idea of "the charatcers are the same than in their original game" and makes comparison more practical. As for the alternate costumes, as there are only 3 costumes as far as we know (the artwork already revealed, an alternate and an "enemy" design with one signle color (I remember a full-silver WoL for instance), it would'nt be too heavy to put them on the character's page.

I for one think it's not a bad idea, yes like you said BH, Cloud may be playable in FFT, but he doesn't have a major impact on the storyline, nor there is much to expand about, however Dissidia goes further into the character's back stories and relationships, not only with their respective rivals, but with other characters as well. If not make a new page, divide them like Alarielle said above, I'm not comparing or anything, but the DC Database Project (DC Wiki) has articles about a lot of characters, and some of the articles are massive, some of them are tiny, however due to the many continuities the DC Universe shares they have to make a character article to explain each of the 52 different versions of each character. I know this is a different situation, but it I just wanted to give an example.
Yeah, that's close to what I meant. We should just make an article about the whole dissidia plot summarizing what would be on each character's page. That way, one who wants to know Cloud's history can go on "Cloud Strife", and if he wants to know more s/he would go on that other page. Same for fighting styles, arenas, etc.
We need unique pages because we need to make move tables for all the characters and the plots will be mid-sized which may overload the larger articles...
"These are all the same characters. Its not a different Cloud in Dissidia. Its not a different Squall in Dissidia...I don't see any "Cloud (Final Fantasy Tactics)" pages."
You sure about that?. Cecil knows Golbez is his brother and can change back into a Dark Knight from a Paladin, Kefka's god-powers are only temporary, Jecht isn't the Final Aeon, and nine of the ten villains that died are alive. It seems very much to me that Dissidia's characters are different from their original counterparts in terms of powers, story and sometimes even personality (for those who have none like Warrior of Light). The only explanation is that Cosmos summoned the heroes from about half-way through their respective games, but even then it doesn't add up. The other thing to consider is that perhaps only certain characters should get separate pages. For example, Warrior of Light and Onion Knight are actual characters with personalities and backstories, not just jobs for nameless player character. Chaos and Garland also seem to be radically different. So if not pages for all the Dissidia cast, perhaps pages for those who are most radically altered from their original counterparts? EDIT - Two other minor things. First, it bugs me that for more than half the cast, their Dissidia section is a subsection of an "Other Apperances" section. Also, can a FF2 fan expand Firion's page, because half of it right now is Dissidia info. And for those who are interested, there's a sandbox for Dissidia character boxes. EDITx2 - Just had a thought to avoid the tag issue. What if instead of new pages, we make them subpages? Like "Cloud Strife/Dissidia"?
We have a page for Kefka, and we have a page for Kefka (Boss). I fail to see why that's so radically different from having Kefka (Dissidia) as well.
The director explained in an interview that they are and aren't the same character. He said they've been given the same personality and for the most part backstory but they're still a different character in a "What If?" story. So Cloud from the regular FFVII Universe does not experience all these events basically.

I think we should put the characters' Dissidia appearences on their pages. If they are indeed "different" characters, as Andres put it, we should make different pages. But we'll have to wait until it comes out in America to really be sure.

I think that wer should put this idea aside untill the game is released around the rest of the world. Most of the haracter articles if not all i guess are expandible but we may need to create new ones for Onion Knight and Warrior of Light ect. Characters don't have different articles for The After so why should they Dissidia
Never hear when long discussion are present. Anyway, no. We shouldn't do that, BUT, if we must. Cloud Strife, [[Cloud Strife/Limit Break Videos]]. Cloud Strife, Cloud Strife/Move Lists? ILHI 22:12, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
