As Hecko said, Phoenix Downs are for people who are knocked out, not dead. There is a difference. And people should really play more Final Fantasy V because, spoilers, when Galuf is dying, Bartz tries using a Phoenix Down, Faris tries Raise and Lenna tries a generic cure spell, all to no effect. So this further cements the fact that Phoenix Downs are more like smelling salts, used for waking people up after being knocked out. Also, Aeris never loved Cloud, she loved Zack. Since Cloud had stolen parts of Zack's life, he reminded Aeris of him, and thus she transferred some of her feelings onto him.
Aeris Rule: If you die in battle, you can be revived. Die in a movie or cut-scene, you're gone for good. Mustadio Exception: If you die in a joke cut-scene, then Phoenix Downs work. Any restorative item used will not count against the player's inventory.

theres alittle period of time she lives and then dies so he can use cure or whatever to heal the wound before she would have die and she be okay.
Crazyswordsman - Final Fantasy VI, because Drake says he wants to link to FF7 every day, which is bad because that game is so far inferior to FF6. TALK - 04:37, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm too tired, so I'm getting my good friend Dr. Donez to answer these questions:

Well it has been said a million times before but I'll say it again 1.When your Characters reach 0 HP in battle they are Knocked Out not Killed Aeris was Killed By Sephiroth therefore a Phoenix Down would have no effect. 2.Sephiroth never died he was only badly injured. 3.I believe that Aeris loved the aspects of Zack's personality that she saw in Cloud, I don't think that she had any feelings for Cloud himself. And as for that period of time shortly before she died, she was mortally wounded and therefore could not have been saved by any spell or item
Fanboys, please. We don't want to hear the FFVII Party Line again, we're all familiar with it (and bored of it). The only reason why Aeris couldn't have been revived is because Cloud let her be in a KO status for more than three turns. Then she Crystalized and was gone forever. This is basic Tactics.
InsaneMonkey - *throws pear* AHH, IT'S A DELICIOUS PEAR! TALK - Yes, I'm insane, what's it to ya? Huh? {{{time}}}
Cloud didn't even bother using ANY cure spells or items on Aeris anyways, proving Cloud was being either a total jackass, or his stupidity is actually proven. (Yes I am an FFVII fanboy, and I dissed Cloud. Still, sometimes even my favorire FF characters have their stupid moments, and I do point them out.)
I have to agree with Insane Monkey, I loved FFVII but Cloud is a complete dick, he treats Tifa like crap, I mean the girl waits for him in the Shinra building she tries to save him in Mideel despite risking her own life. And yet despite all this he completely ignores her in favour of a dead girl (that sounds a lot sicker than it was supposed to).
