I've been advised by a Wikia staff member that there is a way to grant certain capabilities to users who are not administrators. Several moderators have opined about the abilities that come with modship, which is currently limited to rollback. With community consent, several priviliges normally only available to administrators may be granted to moderators. These include:
These are all maintanance functions that can help moderators keep the wiki running more smoothly. Please comment below if you have feelings about this possible increase in mod priviliges or have other suggestions. Wikia can allow for bureaucrats to grant these rights to moderators if community support is shown. Comments by everyone are welcome, especially those of non-staff members. I'm in support of the first two rights. I'm not quite sure if the third ability can be given without allowing mods to move a page over any edited page, redirect or no. Anyone can move a page over a non-edited redirect, but allowing moves over pages edited, not just moved, by other people is a bit much IMO. I'll ask on #wikia again. EDIT: Nope, it's either full deletion powers or nothing. I've replaced the "delete edited redirects" with "move files", allowing primarily for the renaming of misnamed files. | |||
I also agree with this. It'll give more reason for those who are mods to feel like that they actually EARNED being a mod, rather than just have rollback, but that's my personal opinion on that. | |||
I agree with this. The mods deserve to be able to use these functions, which are pretty useful. | |||
Finally, more functions we can grant. I always felt that simply granting Rollback wasn't much of a promotion, but these features certainly pack more punch (especially the redirect suppressor). In other words, support. | |||

Absolutely support. Suppressing redirects is a very useful function, and quick move is also very useful. Also, I thought normal users could move files. :P As stated before, this will at least make moderators less of an empty title and grant them some power (Actually, I should start a forum on Sardapedia about this as well :P). | |||

I believe I was present when this issue was brought up on the IRC. It did not seem to me to be so much an issue of "Shall we give Moderators more powers?" as "Moderators currently have very few useful powers and the status is more ceremonial than practical; shall we change this?". I messaged Wikia through Special:Contact earlier today with a link to this forum, so this may be confirmed soon. I think the bureacrats will be the only ones to know when these functions are implemented; the rights will be available to give out but not automatically distributed. | |||
