Fortin Thorne is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. He is the current head of House Thorne, the noble family descended from the Thorne Dynasty that ruled Ul'dah around 300 years ago. Although Fortin does not have noble blood, he acquired his position by marrying the heiress of the House, Claudia Thorne. Fortin and Claudia had a daughter, Aldiytha Thorne. He appeared during the seasonal event Little Ladies' Day.

Early life[]

Fortin was an common man when he met Claudia, the eldest daughter of House Thorne. Claudia had frequent bouts of illness, and rarely attended the social functions held among the noble families of Ul'dah. They met by chance during a Little Ladies' Day celebration. Claudia performed the Little Ladies' Dance for him. On that occasion, Fortin in love offered to be her seneschal. Eventually they married and Fortin became the current leader of House Thorne. Due to her illness, Claudia passed away shortly after the birth of their daughter, Aldiytha Thorne. Aldiytha was born in poor health, and for fear of losing her, Fortin became overprotective by keeping her under the care of the butlers in the mansion and hiding the tradition of the Little Ladies' Dance from her.[1]
Little Ladies' Day 2023[]
Aldiythia found her mother's fan, but Fortin denied knowing its origin. Wanting to learn more about the lost tradition, Aldiythia sneaks out to consult a reporter from the Mythril Eye and a historian. With the help of the Warrior of Light, they discover that the fan belonged to her mother and meet a noblewoman who is a close friend of Claudia and tells them that she can teach Aldiytha the dance. After doing so, Aldiytha realizes that her father kept it from her because it was tiring for those of fragile composition like her.[1]

Meanwhile Fortin, accompanied by the butler Rodolph, has left the mansion to search for Aldiythia. After understanding her father's reasoning for hiding the truth, Aldiythia performs the dance for Fortin, who remembers the joy of the day he met Claudia. After hearing his daughter's heartfelt wish, Fortin tells her that he will not dissuade her from doing the dance if that is her wish.[1]

Fortin is a middle aged midlander hyur with short light brown hair and hazel eyes. He wears an Oasis Doublet, Wyvernskin Cuffs of Aiming dyed dark brown, a Sarouel of the Divine Light, Qarn Duckbills, and a Copper Ring
Personality[]
Fortin is overprotective of his daughter as she inherited her mother's illness, making her frail of body and easily susceptible to sickness. Because of this she cannot leave the manor without notice, and has Radolph accompany her at all times.
