Consume all ATB charges to unleash a concentrated burst of energy. Significantly increases stagger.

Description

Focused Shot is Barret's default ability in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Barret charges up his gun, creating an orb of energy that is forcefully blasted against his opponent.

Focused Shot is based on Big Shot from the original Final Fantasy VII, in which it was Barret's first level 1 limit break.

Mechanics[edit | edit source]

Focused Shot will use all of Barret's currently filled ATB charges, up to three if Barret uses Refocus. The more ATB charges consumed, the more damage will be dealt, and the greater the ATB increase will be.

At one ATB charge, Focused Shot has an attack power of only 160, and a pressure increase of 30. At two ATB charges, Focused Shot's attack power increases to 420, and has a pressure increase of 54. At three ATB charges, this increases further to 680, with a pressure increase of 72.

Use[edit | edit source]

Focused Shot is one of Barret's easiest ways of dealing burst damage, given that his damage-per-second is mostly sustained with basic attacks. Much like many of Barret's abilities, Focused Shot deals more damage the more ATB he has, as it'll consume all his gauges. The ability is efficient in finishing off faraway opponents, but is mostly useful for inflicting massive stagger on opponents under the pressured status, specially when Barret has 2 ATB.

Compared to Maximum Fury, Focused Shot deals burst damage and raises an enemy's stagger, whereas Maximum Fury is more focused on dealing raw, sustained damage. Maximum Fury is better on an enemy who is already staggered, while Focused Shot is better on enemies yet to be staggered.

Focused Shot allows Barret to deal ranged damage even with equipped with a melee weapon.
