The Focalor (フォカロル, Fokaroru?), also known as the Fastitocalon or Zabaione, is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series, first appearing in Final Fantasy VIII. It most commonly appears as a monstrous flying fish.

The Fastitocalon appears as a pair of enemies encountered in beaches and deserts throughout the world. While different species, they are both fish that swim through sand, with only their identical dorsal fins being visible at first. They can only be distinguished by the cry at the beginning of battle, as the larger creature has a deeper cry. They resist all damage while swimming, and may burst from the sand after taking damage.
While both creatures are identified as Fastitocalon in battle, the smaller enemy is identified as the "Fasticalon-F" on its Triple Triad card, signifying it to be a "false" Fastitocalon.

Duke Focalor appears as a demon notorious monster encountered in Xarcabard. He is the only normal source of the Tenebrium used to craft the Smiting Scythe.
Final Fantasy XII[]
The Focalor appears as an enemy encountered in the Sochen Cave Palace and Nabreus Deadlands. It is a normally docile enemy with a small chance to drop the Power Rod.
Final Fantasy Type-0[]
The Zabaione appears as an enemy encountered in the Togoreth Region. It is a giant variant of the Aqua Flan.

Etymology[]
Focalor is the name of one of the 72 demons said to have been sealed by Solomon. In demonology, Focalor is said to be the name of a demon with power of wind and sea.
