Fluid Aura (アクアオーラ, Akua Ōra?, lit. Aqua Aura) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It originates from Final Fantasy XIV and has become associated with Y'shtola Rhul in spinoff appearances.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Fluid Aura hotkey.

Fluid Aura is a Conjurer ability available after completing the "Trial by Water" level 15 class quest. The ability binds the enemy for 6 seconds. Fluid Aura has an instant cast time and a 30 second recast time. It shares the same animation with the Water enemy ability.

From the game's initial relaunch through the entirety of the Heavensward expansion, Fluid Aura originally dealt water damage with a potency of 150 to a single target, along with a 15 yalm knockback and bind effect. After the release of the Stormblood expansion, Fluid Aura had its damage effect removed in an attempt to balance out damage among the healer jobs and dealt a knockback and bind. In the Shadowbringers expansion, the knockback effect was also removed, and only the bind effect remained, though its range was greatly increased. In Endwalker, this ability was removed entirely.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT[]

Fluid Aura is Y'shtola's down aerial Bravery attack. It sends out a mid-range burst of water that knocks the target away and locks them in place for two seconds.

Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade[]

Etymology[]

In parapsychology and many forms of spiritual practice, an aura is a field of subtle, luminous radiation surrounding a person or object (like a halo or aureola in religious art). The depiction of such an aura often connotes a person of particular power or holiness.
