Flintlock (魔砲士, Mahō Shi?) is a recurring job in the Final Fantasy series.

Appearances

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift

Flintlocks are a moogle-only job, wherein they wield hand-cannons and use abilities to heal allies and attack enemies.

Their usage is limited due to their low stat growths, requirement of hand-cannons to access their abilities, and the necessity of using up a turn "priming" the weapon to use any of said abilities. This is counteracted by their long range, high resilience and varied skills that are rarely if ever seen in other jobs, such as MP-recovering and target-teleporting abilities.

Etymology

Flintlock is the general term for any firearm based on the flintlock mechanism. The term may also apply to the mechanism itself. Introduced at the beginning of the 17th century, the flintlock rapidly replaced earlier firearm-ignition technologies, such as the doglock, matchlock, and wheellock mechanisms.
