The Flan Rojo is an enemy in Final Fantasy X-2.
Fiend Tale Edit
- The sea and sky stretched endlessly before my eyes. My feet feel the heat of the white sand below them. I grew up on such a tranquil waterfront. My father and his father before him spent their lives there. I, however, yearned for more. What adventures awaited me on the other side of the ocean?
- Supposedly, when I was younger, my grandfather also dreamt of the outside world and tried to leave the island. But when he jumped into the water... he didn't come back. He was lost at sea. My father and the others wanted to go look for him, but couldn't. You see, we flan can't swim.
- Three years ago, my father worked day and night to learn how to swim. He wanted to go beyond the ocean. But one week later, along the shore I saw just a pair of teeth. My father had been melted by the sea. Sea water dissolves us into nothingness.
- Shinra trained me well. Now I feel confident that I can cross the sea without fear of being swallowed or melted. I want to carry out the dreams of my ancestors. Now is the time for me to make my father and grandfather proud!
One notable Flan Rojo attempts to fulfill the dream of his father and grandfather of traveling the sea. Prior to making the venture, Flan Rojo was trained by Shinra to be resistant to sea water that normally is deadly to his kind.
Contrary to the Final Fantasy X enemies, the flans in this game have lowered Defense, and will take normal damage from a regular attack. Any Ice-elemental attacks will work well against it. It is not a particularly big threat.
Flan is an open pastry or sponge cake containing a sweet or savory filling. A typical flan of this sort is round, with shortcrust pastry, usually coated with sweet syrup. It is similar to a custard tart or a South African melktert.
Rojo is Spanish for "red".
