Flan Azabache is an enemy in Final Fantasy X-2. It uses Dark Flan's model from Final Fantasy X.

Flan Azabache uses higher level magic attacks, but is not difficult unless Oversouled. Having Reflect or elemental resistant equipment helps when facing it in Oversoul, and having several recovery items on hand helps to deal with its Demi spell. Absorb is nothing to worry about.

When recruited, Flan Azabache comes with Magic Up, Flare, Curaga and Life Preserver learned. It is advised to have it fight Humbaba in the Fiend Arena to learn Ltg./Water Eater, Total Limit Break and Ultima, becoming a force to be reckoned with. It can learn an additional Fire/Ice Eater from an enemy that casts fire or ice spells, e.g. the Djose Outlaws team of the Fiend Arena.

Etymology

The word Flan refers to an open pastry or sponge cake containing a sweet or savory filling. A typical flan of this sort is round, with shortcrust pastry, usually coated with sweet syrup. It is similar to a custard tart or a South African melktert.

Negro Azabache means "jet black" in Spanish.
