Flame Flan is an enemy from Final Fantasy X. It is found in the Calm Lands appearing with other fiends. It is a red gelatinous monster with flaming eyes and insides.

Flame Flan will cast Firaga at a single party member every turn. As with other Flan, it has high physical Defense. It is a great source for farming Fire Gems for various Mixes.

It drops weapons with Piercing, and Firestrike, and in the International and HD Remaster versions, also drops weapons with Distill Mana. It drops armor with Fire-protection abilities.

Strategy

It can be defeated by casting a spell of the opposing element, in this case Ice.

Etymology

The word Flan refers to an open pastry or sponge cake containing a sweet or savory filling. A typical flan of this sort is round, with shortcrust pastry, usually coated with sweet syrup. It is similar to a custard tart or a South African melktert.
