First Challenge, Mark of the Moogle, Power...Down?, and Don't Fear, Yuffie's Here are the first quests in "Episode INTERmission" of Final Fantasy VII Remake, taking place in Sector 7 Slums at the start of Chapter 1, "Wutai's Finest". Yuffie Kisaragi arrives in the Sector 7 slums of Midgar, in search of Avalanche, to begin her quest to infiltrate the Shinra Building.

Walkthrough[]

Yuffie Kisaragi comes equipped with the File:Yuffie shuriken from FFVII Remake icon.png 4-Point Shuriken, the Ninja Armlet, as well as the Steal Materia Steal Materia, Deadly Dodge Materia Deadly Dodge Materia, Healing Materia Healing Materia, Parry Materia Parry Materia, and Assess Materia Assess Materia. These materia, all at level 1 aside from the healing materia, mean she has no offensive spells. However, she has a variety of abilities: Art of War, a melee range multi-hitting physical attack on a single enemy; Windstorm, an area-of-effect Wind Wind-elemental attack; and Elemental Ninjutsu, allowing her to imbue her ranged physical attacks with a certain element. Yuffie's Unique Ability is Throw, allowing her to throw her weapon at a target; normal attacks after throwing her weapon are ranged attacks against the single target, which will be in use until using Retrieve to return it to her (or automatically after a certain time), dealing damage on the way.

Upon gaining control of Yuffie, head forward through the Sector 7 Slums - Outskirts. Yuffie will encounter two Toxirats as the first enemies. These enemies have a fair amount of HP, providing an opportunity to become familiar with Yuffie's abilities, but can be defeated quickly with simple attacks. Head through the open window to encounter gorgers, which similarly, can be defeated with normal attacks but have enough HP to test Yuffie's other skills. In particular, they are weak to Ice Ice, so Ice Ninjutsu is ideal.

After defeating the enemies, heading through the warehouse window leads to a metal bridge across several plains. On the left, a few boxes are found on towers and unreachable at melee range, but can be destroyed by using Yuffie's Throw. Cross the bridge to encounter more gorgers and a lesser drake. This enemy is only slightly more durable, but is best defeated using Wind Ninjutsu and Throwing Yuffie's weapon. Enter the warehouse door and follow the path before a cutscene commences.

Following the cutscene, use Yuffie's Throw to lower the elevator, and rise it to encounter two more gorgers. Defeat them, then proceed forward over some construction materials, for the path to split. Following right down a ladder leads to an area below with a chest containing two hi-potions hidden away in a corner, and an elevator that can be activated by Throwing again leading to an HP Up Materia HP Up Materia, a very useful equip. The path outside the warehouse proceeds along with the quest. After exiting the warehouse, head right to find a treasure chest with power wristguards Power Wristguards found in FFVIIR INTERmission, then climb on the roof ahead and move forward.

Eventually, the music will change and the camera pans over to see a robed man attacked by monsters. Climb the ladders of the tower directly ahead, then use Throw to hit the crane holding up a piece of the bridge. Descend down the tower and cross the bridge to encounter two wayward wolves. These enemies are significantly more challenging than those previously fought, due to being more durable and dealing more damage. In particular, using Throat Clamp in melee range, they can pin Yuffie down and deal heavy damage, unless the attack is dodged. Their Headbutt attack also deals heavy damage, but can be guarded against. Focus on staggering them, and make use of Ice Ninjutsu to exploit their Ice Ice weakness.

When the wolves are defeated, instead of following the posters, head right to find two towers. Climb the ladders on the first tower and cross the walkway to the second to find a Wind Materia Wind Materia, then take the pole back down and return to the poster to proceed. Head forward through a tunnel, grabbing the 1,000 gil treasure chest along the way 1000 gil treasure from FFVII Remake INTERmission, and continue following the linear path until reaching a gate. After interacting with the gate, a short cutscene commences, and the path continues forward to Scrap Boulevard. Scrap Boulevard's layout is identical to that in the main game, and in the cave on the left, an MP Up Materia MP Up Materia is found MP Up in Scrap Boulevard from FFVII Remake INTERmission.

Proceed forward to the residential area, once again identical in layout to the main game, and head further into town. This will commence the next quest, "Esteemed Avalanche Colleagues".

Hard mode tips[]

Enemies become more durable, and marginally more dangerous. Brumal Form can be effective at avoiding damage from many enemies, particularly the lesser drake, whose attacks are easy to predict. Additionally, using Elemental Materia Elemental Materia paired with Ice Materia Ice Materia can be effective against most enemies.
