The Fire Elemental is an elemental enemy from Final Fantasy XII. It can be found in the Mosphoran Highwaste during sunny weather. It is docile unless attacked or Magick is used nearby. Lower level parties are advised to avoid them.

Four of them are fought alongside a Salamand Entite in the Zodiac versions' Trial Mode in Stage 73.

Bestiary entry

Page 1: Observations

Being an elemental of flame, born in the midst of a blazing inferno, appearing most often in mountainous regions where life abounds. The strength of flame gives power to much life, and can occasionally be a path to new knowledge. For this reason do alchemists worship fire as the must of creation.

Stats

Battle

The Fire Elemental is a tough enemy if the party is overwhelmed by the Wary Wolf's pack or the team of Humbabas in Mosphoran Highwaste. Eliminating the other enemies in the area is recommended so that the party may escape the Fire Elemental to heal up without the higher risk of casualties.

Strategy

Before engaging it, the player should bestow Protect and Shell to all party members. The party should just use regular attacks with Haste and Bravery buffs, if available. The Bravery buff may be bestowed by attacking party members with the Multiscale measure.

Two characters should wear the Adamant Hat and Adamant Vest that halve Fire damage. Good weapons to equip are the best katana available and the Miter, a mace that deals Water-elemental damage. Miter is best equipped by characters with high Magick Power, as the maces' damage calculation uses Magick instead of Strength. Any melee attacks against the Fire Elemental will damage the melee attackers, so Regen, Cura or Hi-Potions can be used to heal.

For a ranged attacker, crossbows are better than bows for they are fast. Hand-bombs and guns are not recommended as the damage dealt isn't strong. Magick-casting characters should use Water (Aqua in Zodiac versions) and equip the Rose Corsage for immunity against Silence. It is recommended for the magick-casters to have the Serenity Augment, or equip the Magick Gloves. The player can also use Shear repeatedly on the Fire Elemental and end it with Water (Aqua). It may or may not bestow itself with Magick Wall, so the Water (Aqua) spell should be cast fast.
