Deal a small amount of fire damage.
Description
Fire is a magic spell in Final Fantasy VII Remake and "Episode INTERmission". It is granted by the Fire Materia, and is the basic Fire-elemental spell below Fira and Firaga. Fire deals a small amount of fire-elemental damage, but has the lowest MP cost, and the shortest casting time.
In the downloadable demo, Fire is the only magic spell that Cloud Strife can use. Fire is also a spell in the Fort Condor minigame in INTERmission, where it simply damages a target. It is present on the following boards: Starter Board, Sorcerer Board II, and Assassin Board I.

Use[]
Fire costs 4 MP to cast with a level 1 fire materia equipped. The spell has many uses against low-level enemies, and can be used to both deal considerable damage, killing many early enemies, as well as pressuring and staggering more powerful enemies at low levels. Among its peers— Blizzard, Thunder, and Aero—Fire's strength is in being able to deal area-of-effect damage, as well as to damage enemies weak to the fire element, particularly humanoids.
Although Fire is outclassed by Fira, Fire still has its uses due to its short cast time and low MP cost. Fire is extremely quick to charge and cast, meaning that there are cases where one would still cast Fire to save MP or to pressure enemies faster. At level 3, when Firaga is obtained, Fire is almost entirely redundant, and players will want to cast Fira or Firaga more often than not.
The Fire spell can be amplified by pairing the fire materia with Support Materia. Pairing it with HP Absorption Materia and MP Absorption Materia can increase a character's sustainability, while pairing it with Magnify Materia allows Fire to hit all enemies. However, these materia are often best used with more powerful spells. Using Fire with Aerith's Arcane Ward will cast it twice, making it even more effective.
Fire can be used by Monodrives.
