Use[]

Fire3 can be used by characters with the Fire Materia at level 3. Though it can deal significant damage, it also comes with a considerable MP cost, meaning it should be used sparingly and is best saved for boss battles. As a Fire-elemental spell, it is best used against bosses weak to Fire.

Fire3 can be amplified by pairing the Fire Materia with Support Materia. As it is a highly-damaging spell, pairing it with MP Turbo or Quadra Magic can further boost its damage to single targets, and Magic Counter allows it to be used without using up a turn. Pairing it with MP Absorb mitigates the MP cost, though HP Absorb also allows the player greater endurance. Pairing it with All allows the spell to clear groups of enemies, though using Mega All will have the same effect and allows for more options for paired Support Materia. Fire3 has a different animation when used with All.

Fire3 is useful against all enemies that are weak to Fire, or that do not otherwise resist or absorb the element. Though it is outclassed by Flare from the Contain Materia, Flare has almost double the MP cost. For spellcasting purposes, Fire3 remains a solid choice in later fights, particularly if paired with the right Support Materia. However, the E.Skill Beta can be acquired much earlier, costs much less MP, and is almost as powerful and natively hits all enemies for considerable Fire-based damage, making it a strong rival for using Fire3.

Fire3 can be cast by the enemies Pollensalta and Bizarro∙Sephiroth. Sephiroth uses it during Cloud's retelling of the Nibelheim Incident when faced with a single out of reach enemy. Sephiroth spends no MP when using his spells.
