Fire element attack

Description

Fire2 is an attack magic spell in Final Fantasy VII. It is granted by the Fire Materia at level two, and is the second-tier Fire-elemental spell above Fire and below Fire3.

## StatsEdit

Magic Materia Fire, Master Magic Moderate fire-elemental damage. 22 Added Cut, All, Final Attack, HP Absorb, Magic Counter, MP Absorb, MP Turbo, Quadra Magic, Sneak Attack, Steal as well Yes

Fire2 deals damage in the following formula:

$(20 / 16) * [ (Level + Magical Attack) * 6 ]$

where "Level" is the caster's current level and "Magical Attack" is their Magic atk stat. This is effectively 1.25x the base magic damage.

## UseEdit

Fire2 can be used by characters with the Fire Materia at level 2. If obtained during the early portions of the game, it proves a potent spell, as it can deal considerable damage compared to most other attacks at this stage short of Limits. However, the MP cost is also considerable at this stage, meaning it is best to save it on more challenging enemies or bosses, and instead use Fire as the primary attack. As a Fire-elemental spell, it is best against enemies weak to Fire, such as animals and water monsters.

Fire2 can be amplified by pairing the Fire Materia with Support Materia. The All Materia allows it to hit all enemies, and at early stages can allow it to wipe most groups of enemies. If pairing it with MP Turbo, its damage can be even more considerable, but increased the MP cost means it should be used sparingly.

At later levels, Fire2 becomes outclassed by Fire3. However, as characters' MP improves, it can be used more frequently, especially if paired with MP Absorb. Thus it overtakes the basic Fire spell in usefulness, but as characters continue to improve, it itself is overtaken by Fire3. Fire2 is also outclassed by Flare, gained from the Contain Materia.

Fire2 can be cast by the enemies Scrutin Eye, Soul Fire, Jersey, Killbin, Manhole, and Poodler Sample. It can also be cast by Turks:Rude during the Gelnika encounter.
