Firaga is a magic ability for Lightning in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. It is the final Fire spell available to players, dealing heavy magic fire-elemental damage to multiple foes in a large radius.
The Purple Lightning garb has a physical oriented version of Firaga known as Flame.
Obtained[]
A Firaga Lv. 2 ability can be found in a treasure sphere within the Temple of the Goddess in the Wildlands. The Crimson Bloom garb purchasable from Yusnaan's Hawker's Row on Hard Mode has Firaga Lv. 5 as its locked ability.
Firaga can be obtained as a drop from several enemies. Dreadnoughts, Sugrivas, and Zaltyses all have a 15% chance of dropping the ability, the latter's increasing to 20% after being staggered. Both the Chimera Ω and Zaltys Ω enemies have a 100% chance of dropping the ability, but the former will only drop Firaga on Hard Mode.
The enemies drop different levels of the ability on the following days and difficulties:

Mechanics[]
When used, Lightning launches a fireball at the targets, unleashing a massive explosion upon impact, dealing heavy fire-elemental magic damage to multiple enemies in a wide radius. If the opponent is weak to fire-elemental attacks, or is inflicted with the Curse and Imperil statuses, they have a chance of being launched into the air.
By default, Firaga Lv. 1 has an ATB cost of 40, an attack power of 1.65, a Stagger Power of A, and a Stagger Time of E. When fully upgraded, Firaga Lv. 5 at max has an ATB cost of 25, an attack power of 10.25, a Stagger Power of A, and a Stagger Time of E.
The Aeronite, Caius Ballad, Ereshkigal, Gremlin Ω enemies use Firaga against Lightning. It is also used by the final boss and its upgraded form during the second phase when under the effects of the Fire Spirit.

Use[]
Firaga is useful when battling multiple foes weak to fire-elemental attacks, allowing Lightning to inflict heavy damage to those caught in the attack and launching most foes into the air. Due to most enemies in the Jagd Woods of the Wildlands being weak to fire attacks, Firaga is especially useful when dealing with encounters with multiple foes in the location.
Firaga is exceptionally useful when battling stronger opponents, such as the boss of the Yusnaan main scenario, especially when under the effects of Curse and Imperil, allowing Lightning to easily build up their stagger wave and launching them into the air to prevent them from acting. This tactic is especially useful when battling the boss of the Wildlands main scenario, especially when combined with Blizzaga and Thundaga, giving them little opportunity to perform attacks against Lightning.
Firaga's damage can also be increased by 20% - 25% if Lightning is equipped with the Coldflame Droplet accessories.
The only downsides to casting Firaga are its heavy ATB cost and its cast animation making Lightning vulnerable to being attacked before the spell activates. However, some of those drawbacks can be alleviated with ability synthesis to lower the ATB cost, along with garbs and accessories that increase Lightning's ATB gauge and recovery. However, when dealing with single opponents with higher stagger requirements, players should use Fira, this is due to the lesser spell having the ability to chain multiple casts.
