Fire magic damage/one enemy
Description
Firaga is an attack magic spell in Final Fantasy VIII. It is the highest level Fire-elemental spell above Fire and Fira, allowing it to be junctioned to absorb or deal Fire damage in battle, or cast as a spell to deal major damage.
Obtained[]
Firaga is initially hard to come by, and is easiest to obtain by refining using the Guardian Force Ifrit's ability to refine Fire magic from certain items. The player can acquire it early by playing Triple Triad and amassing Hexadragon cards that modify into Red Fangs (3:1) that further refine into Firaga.
At higher levels, it replaces Fira as a common spell drawn from many high-level enemies. The Guardian Force Alexander gives the High Mag-RF ability to refine five Fira spells to one Firaga.
Stats[]
Use[]
Firaga has a spell power of 35 when cast, meaning its damage is calculated as:
It is cast as a spell in the Magic command, Selphie's Slot Limit Break, or Rinoa's Angel Wing if she has it in her inventory.
Casting Firaga in battle increases compatibility with Ifrit by 2.4, but lowers compatibility with Shiva by 1.2.
Firaga is initially a useful spell to junction to boost Strength or HP, especially if acquired early by refining, but can be outclassed by greater spells in this regard. However, its main use is to junction to Elem-Atk-J and Elem-Def-J, as it can significantly increase damage against enemies weak to Fire, or absorb Fire damage respectively.
Firaga is used against the player party by the following enemies: Buel, Edea (1st), Imp, Jelleye, Ruby Dragon, Seifer (2nd & 4th), and Sphinxaur. It can be reflected and protected against with defensive Fire junctions and Shell.
