Fire magic damage/one enemy

Description

Fira is an attack magic spell in Final Fantasy VIII. It is the second level Fire-elemental spell above Fire and below Firaga, allowing it to be junctioned to resist or deal Fire damage in battle, or cast as a spell to deal moderate damage.

When Magic Booster is used in the 2013 PC re-release, the player's inventory gains 100 Fira spells, among other basic spells.

Obtained[]

Fira is a common spell that can be drawn from many enemies whose level is between 20 and 29, with the most common one being the Bomb. The Guardian Force Ifrit gives the ability F Mag-RF to create Fire magic via refining, while the Guardian Force Quezacotl gives the ability to refine five basic Fire spells to one Fira with Mid Mag-RF. Bomb Fragments refine into Fira, obtained from Bombs and their cards (via Card Mod).

Stats[]

Use[]

Fira has a spell power of 24 when cast, meaning its damage is calculated as:

[1]

It is cast as a spell in the Magic command, Selphie's Slot Limit Break, or Rinoa's Angel Wing if she has it in her inventory.

Casting Fira in battle increases compatibility with Ifrit by 2, but lowers compatibility with Shiva by 1 and with Eden by 0.2.

Prior to obtaining Firaga, Fira is a useful spell to junction against enemies weak to Fire, or to resist against enemies with Fire attacks. It can also be useful for junctioning to boost Strength and deal more damage.

Later, Fira is best refined into Firaga using High Mag-RF, as it is outclassed.

Edea uses Fira from FFVIII Remastered

Edea uses Fira.

Enemies that use Fira against the player are Buel, Edea (2nd), G-Soldier, Geezard, Hexadragon, Jelleye, Ruby Dragon, Seifer (1st, 2nd, 3rd), and Sorceress (A). The player can fend against it with Reflect, Fire-defensive junctions, and Shell, but it is not among the most devastating spells these enemies use.
